I'll post and let you know how it went. It's on Vodafone and not Rod Laver.
My AO telecast is based on Rod Laver Arena, I'll see Amelie's entire match
though. Anyway- they'll show at least the 2nd set of Justine I'm sure of it.
It's been like that today..Rod Laver, and the 2nd set on show courts,
outer courts of stars and seeds during the telecast entire day session.

nice action highlights of who we're watching were shown along with
some action movie background music.heh. It featured AM, Agassi and
the number 1 players in the world and seeds of the event- JHH, and Roddick.

Watched it live from the 2nd set. Pin had the nerve to
take out time to get her thigh worked on, and have her bandage
re-strapped! I don't know if I wanted to :haha: or cry.

JHH was looking really agitated waiting for Pin to come back in
for the second set to start. Pin took a long time to return.
A little longer than what Loit took in her match against LD later
on in the day at MC court. The serve was awful today. So, many
net duffers. The volleys were as ugly. One of the other problems
besides Pin taking a break between sets was that the French player's
serve's were so slow, that it ruined alot fo JHH's timing. Let's give
the 15 year old school girl credit; because she was hitting the ball hard..
modern day tennis level. Pin was just cotten candy fluff puffs. The
Pin game seemed to be about having the opponent generate the pace
and hitting rallies of it. She used this to her advantage and got the
score looking pretty good for herself.

Again..the JHH was just really poor, and lost her serve twice, and
couldn't break Pin's service game. It wasn't until the game was
up at 3-4 in favor of Pin that Justine seemed to gain her momentum
in shots to get it back to 4-4. From there on the Pin game went as
flat as a day old can of Pepsi sitting on the dashboard of a Volkswagon
Bug. JHH won. Thank god.

Not a very pretty match at all. We'll just bury that into my cat's
litter box along with his kitty poo and throw it away in a plastic bag.
Thank you.

Oh. One more thing. I think J Double H has gotten sun burned,
her faced look kind of red. Drink those fluids tonight,
and tell Pierre to bust out the triple strenght
SPF 70 Banana Boat water proof sunblock. ;)

Actually,it's Justine that doesn't really like playing at night. She loves the atmosphere and all but because she wears contacts she has trouble with the lighting around the court. And she also likes to play her match as soon as possible so she can rest and prepare for her next match. For example she was the one that asked the organisator to let her play her first-round match around midday. But I'm sure she'll play a nightsession very soon.

I suppose for the non-Sci Fi types there can be the "Manatou" version.
This is where a spirit of an evil Indian warlock attaches himself to

the body to be re-born as a NNR-DEN supporter.

Hey Duckie.

It's on SUPER SPORTS a local sports station that carries stuff like
Badminton, Primera Liga, WTA, Davis Cup, Swimming, Horse Racing
and special events like the World Cup, etc..

I moved to Singapore because the job options back home weren't that
great anymore. You know ...tight budget controls. I thought Singapore
might be good because it's in Asia (a growing economic power house)
and English is the national language here. I also wanted to challenge
myself and see things in another perspective. You get stuck in a rut
just living in the USA. Your world view becomes very singular.

Oh I see I see. Yeah the cost of living in Singapore is probably much lower than in the States. I agree about seeing things in another perspective. I would love to be able to live in different countries and experience all the different cultures. It's good for your mind and soul.

I watched the entire 2nd set live. Interesting set at that too. Svetlana
has improved her game and had a really good strategy against JHH.
She kept the majority of her forehand shots real far toward the
corners running JHH around left and right. Did some high top shots
and served a couple to JHH's body. JHH played a consistent, and in
terms of variety of shots- conservative one.

There wasn't too much volleys or net charging. Just perhaps to finish
a shot off; but it looked to me that JHH was just playing enough to
beat Svetlana. Nothing really special or jaw dropping happened in
terms of shots. It looked like Svetlana might take charge of the 2nd
set when it was at 5-3; but her game left the court. Broke back,
served, broke back and it was match point. Oh..and about 3 "Allez's"

I don't know why I was nervous about the 2nd set. I guess I just
don't have those nerves of steel like NNR-DEN. ;)

Nice on court interview after the match.

Just finished watching the final set of Danilidou. The Italian who beat
Eleni plays just like Davide Sanguenetti. Hit's deep, gets alot of balls
back, but makes the opponent generate all the pace.

It should be ok for NNR-DEN. I don't think she'll be like Eleni and
lose her serve for no reason. Eleni blew the final set by playing alot
of sloppy shots, and not ending the rallies quickly enough. It looked
like a clay court match, and you know what that means? Who is
the queen of clay?

Can't see J Double H, get trapped into the swaying waves on
a boat cruise type long rallies ,and start getting seasick

I was hoping that JH-H would play Eleni because she needs to
hit with a power hitter; but none of the contenders have been playing
hard hitters either- so they're even. Lindsay on the other hand
has been really cranky and disgusted in her matches; yet
she won. I think Lindsay might be really tricky on QF day.
JH-H will have to be really sharp and makes sure she doesn't
find the right gear. The Davenport serves have either been
bad misses or unreturnable this week. Emotionally she's all over
the place.

I think the Qf's will either be a typical match between them going
into 3 sets; or Lindsay will just be too moody that the match turns
as an easy victory in two sets for our Pocket Rocket.

alexusjonesfan
Jan 23rd, 2004, 10:15 AM
I was asleep during the match  but it sounds like a usual JHH early round slam match...guess the fireworks come later ;). I hope she has a good time in 4th round, and the lack of power doesn't make her turn in a Pin like Performance.

I'm soo happy that Pocket Rocket is taking off as a moniker  :hearts:

Note of interest, I hope Justine finds the right gear in the projected Davenport quarter, and quickly too, I'd much rather see her come out guns a blazin' like the FO semi instead of inconsistent like the USO semi. Meh, who am I to say, she won both times didn't she ;)

Yeah Viggen. Well..I didn't see the first set , maybe there were flashy
shots in there:; but I doubt it. Punch in, punch out performance.
The crowd wasn't into it much being drained from Marat's 3 1/ hour
marathon playing former US president Abe Lincoln. ;)

She won that's all that matters. Don't want to see NNR-DEN peak too
soon. She'll have to bring out the power tools against Lindsay who
seems to be suffering from a bit of "Tourette's" syndrome this week.

What I did like about the match was that in the 2nd set when
the score became 4-4, people called out "Come on Justine"
"Go Justine" which is something kind of different and cool now.
Great to see her appreciated with that sort of gesture outside
of Europe nowadays. And as I said posted before there was
a nice on-court interview as she was gathering her tennis bags
on the way out.

Yeah, Lindsay's got me even more baffled than Momo this week . And about Abe Lincoln, I think he's going to retire everytime he plays a long 5 setter that goes deep into the next morning, you know the ones which seem to give him a new grey hair for every game and usually lands him with an IV bag after ;)...but no, he just keeps on truckin. :speakles:

So, what are the chances that the spirit of "Ilie Nastase" will
hover over Lindsay's head when she plays the Pocket Rocket
on QF day? ;)

Funny; but as the matches go on I've come to feel that if
Pocket Rocket doesn't take the title, I'd be happy if Amelie
did and if that won't be; I could be happy with Lindsay
gaining some self respect for herself again with the trophy.
The over the top Aussie support for Kim is kinda getting on

Meh, the fans tend to exaggerate their fave's illnesses anyway.

I've got a soft spot for Amélie so I wouldn't mind at all if she prevailed in the semi. But she'd have to promise to not tank the final like at the YEC. It's impossible to not like her though. She sets up points so well and then somehow manages to screw it up (same goes for matches and tournaments), her head's a puzzle even to her greatest fans, she never seems to go a long while without having a physical and/or mental letdown, and when she plays well she plays weally weally well. It's all so endearing and you really feel like she's owed much more by the tennis gods. ;)

I'm getting it "live" too. I hope AM will be ok, and her injury is only
rumoured to be call for a Walk Over in her QF.

I was re-reading that incident back at SWISS COMM between JHH and
LD. Hmmm...this is the type of thing that should fire up our Pocket Rocket.
The popular opinion of JHH back in the USA back in the 2002 is generally
the same today, except believe it or not by Williams supporters. Back in 2002
it was thought by the likes of Chris Evert that Kim would be the one to win
a grand slam because Jhh was too small and fragile. I don't know why?; but I
find it tiring to read LD say that the tour isn't the same without Monica, Jenn,
Mary, Serena. Except Serena, I think the other 3 are kind of over the hill.
the tour isn't the same true; but the standard has risen, despite whoever
hasn't shown up! Watched Myskina on tv today, i'm having doubts that Capriati
could beat her now. I think there's a new era upon us, and I don't see why
some writers are saying the women's game is going down hill. It's not about
American tennis players now...that's the difference. I think Venus's loss has
proven you can't just show up and take pictures, look glamourous and win events.

Sorry, I digress.

I'm just upset about Amelie being injured;but what annoys me is people labelling
Zhoo-steen boring. Why is she suddenly the most boring tennis player in the world?
I don't get where alot of people are coming from? The 2 finals against Kim?
Don't blame Zhoo-steen for that? Kim was the one who forgot to check in at the
match counter. She (I hate to use the word...but) choked both grand slams, and
let's not forget the chances against the Serena too.

See now I'm rambling on and on.

Let's Go NRR-DEN! Let's show everyone just how boring you are by taking
LD down in 2 easy sets! :haha:

^^^ I think someone is getting a bit nervous for today's match :p

I have to decide yet on which channel I'm going to watch. I have three options:
1) Canvas (flemish tv channel): don't like the commentating so don't think so
2) RTBF (walloon tv channel): I can improve my french, but they tend to ramble sometimes like frenchspeakers do :tape:
3) Eurosport: commentating is good but they are always a few seconds behind and I like to see the action live :)

Anywayzzzzz: Allez Ju! :bounce:

What a match! And Zhoo-steen wasn't even playing 100% of her
magic. :haha: The first set had me wanting to dig my own grave.
4-0 down? I didn't think it was possible...but pulling it back to win at
7-5. Couldn't even buy a forehand from a second hand shop? All of
a sudden the fight, the energy, the will ,the heart. yes heart is
pulled out the red planet of MARS. And viola...Pocket Rocket!!!!!
She's a genius. Just a pure genius. FU*K YES!!!

Set number 2? Hello 1-handed backhand BABY! God. the 1-handed
backhand returns, and dare I say it's almost an erotic feeling watching
that. Yes, we're pretty sick here, as if you haven't known by now. ;)
Viggen's Canadian, I'm not so I don't know what my excuse is?
I digress. The master took over and Lindsay just became her bitch
as they say in Gangsta Rap songs.

Hi Deuce. It was like the autopsy room in a crime show during the
4-0 smash. Just really quiet and eerie. The first cheers for LD died
down at 4-0, I think the crowd were kind of feeling sorry for Juju
because she couldn't return anything from Davenport nor hold her
serve.

Still have lots of work to do til finals; but we can all relax. I'm going to
the bank and doing business errands.. BIG CHAMPAGNE TOASTS!!!!!!!!!

Let's go Zhoo-steen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

oh my :o

At 4-0 I was having flasbacks of the semi with Serena in wimby thinking...she's gotta win a game somewhere...I mean she's the f*ckin' Hardenne ferchrissakes!. When she brought it to 4-3 and promptly lost her serve, I thought it was going to be an exact repeat of the wimby semi (I was waitin for a drubbin')...luckily the spirit of Serena was on the wrong side of the court to help Lindz ;). I was completely baffled how she pulled out the first set.

At 7-5 4-2, I was having dèja vu from their 4th round match last year. Wasn't Ju up 7-5 4-2 in the 2nd before losing the set?...that's before 5-2 happened and Chris Bradnam declared the match officially over . Lindsay still had something left in the tank but Justine really had her serve's number today.

The shocking thing is: I thought Justine'd have to improve her serving substantially to stand a chance against steamroller Lindsay (luckily Bi-Polar Lindsay is never too far away ;)) and Ju still won the match in straights barely serving over 50% having almost identical stats to her previous matches. On paper it didn't seem all that different from any of her previous matches with qualifiers :o...really goes to show the value of playing well when it counts (and crap when it doesn't :p)

Hurley
Jan 27th, 2004, 06:12 AM
Well, what really impressed me tonight was Justine positively SLAMMING Lindsay's second serves, particularly in the second set. Lindsay really needs to improve her second serves if she wants to contend for majors again, and kudos to Justine for pounding them like a #1 should. Boy, remember when those attributes used to be reversed?

Good luck against Fabiola, Justine...One match at a time!

Did you get to hear/see the on court interview after the match?

:haha: Oh. Juju is such a big show off!!!!!!!!!!!

Q: Did you think about that epic battle of last year's match before you
went on court today?

JHH: No. not at all. That was last year, now is different.

:haha:

I find this hilarious because it's absolute BS. It looked to be bothering
her at 0-1, 0-2,0-3, and 0-4 first set. What a show off!!
And we all love her for it.

But, she did say something true, and that was to in directly acknowledge our MARS rescue project. Yes, Juju said that she didn't player her best tennis at all this week, and finally TODAY she has produced good tennis.

All I can say is... MARS search rescue was a success. ;)

All our posts from the past couple of days were deleted so I'm not going to repeat what I said :p

On another note, this whole Kim vs. Justine (in not just tennis) is getting very annoying. It's getting to the point where you can't be a fan of one without disliking (or at least not being a fan of) the other (pick a side or don't get involved). I'm generalizing of course but still. Everything they do gets compared and broken down to see which one is being disingenuous (the idea that both could be being honest is thrown out the window...probably because for some bizarre reason, they almost always say and do contradictory things). They've both made gaffes here and there but it's annoying to think that if you view what one of them does, from the point of view of a fan of the other, you will inevitably only see faults and errors. :(
