Final finished in less than an hour against 2 players who don't know what's to win a Grand Slam

I cant comment as Eurosport have not shown the First set yet

They joined it at 6-2

Even on the repeat today they missed the First Set

WHY DID THEY PLAY A MONDAY FINAL????

BTW the Mens Match Agassi Federer was fantastic.

Showed us that the standard of the WTA Finals wasnt up to it
 MEOW!!..BTW.the Nalbandian/Ferrero match was just as bad.Of course ,all atp finals are labour inducing affairs are they?NO of course not.

Btw, can anyone confirm this is the first time in history that 2 players without a Grand Slam played the final of the YEC?

No, Sabatini beat Pam Shriver in 1988.

If not THE worst it is a close second. I slept through the second set so that I could watch the mens match in Houston, which was GREAT.

What is wrong with Mauresmo?

I think Serena Williams getting a walkover was worse.

Also, there were some high quality rallies in this match and Kim was in top form. If only Amélie had been in better form.

I turned it on.. and they had already switched to mens coverage.. kind of ridiculous..

It was pretty boring but Kim played great even though Amelie was not up to par. I agree that the Andre-Roger match was much more exciting.

I can't reply to that :o...the tv coverage here sucks:( but I think it won't be when my fave player's winning! ;)

Man that was an ass whooping at its best. I was pulling for Mauresmo after she beat Justine, but Clisters took it to her. Whats even funnier is that I think justine would defeated Clisters had she beat Mauresmo.

That was a drive-by. Kim had that 'back the hell up off my trophy' look all night. But she was peaches and cream at the net. I think she has that fire. I hope she's finally acquired that on-court demeanor.

It was your typical performance from Momo; defeats a top player and gets mowed down in the next round. Chandaitis? :o

It would have been better if it had been 6-4 6-2... at least an hour's worth. But I got to see MNF and the Eagles won. :rocker2:

kim played great, but amelie :o
it is an unfortunate way to end one of the best yecs to date.

i can't believe they didn't show federer-agassi live (stupid espn).

Wasn't there a final that was so bad, that the WTA decided to make the final a best of 5 the next year?
I think Navratilova was involved and it was around the mid 80s.
Any tennis experts who know?

In 1983 Navratilova bt Evert 6-2,6-0 and they decided to make it the best of five. The following year Navratilova beat Evert in three sets, 6-3, 7-5, 6-1

Wow,the same score as yesterday's final. Why did they get rid of the best of five? I liked it. There was alot of good matches
1998- Hingis-Davenport
I remember Graf had a couple 5 set wins, one was against Hingis, was the other Huber?
I think they should bring the best of 5 back.

The best best-of-five *has* to be Seles/Sabatini. Such drama, such power, such craftiness. Tremendous match! :D

Yes, the other was Huber... *sigh* :) I liked the best of five too but I understand the players not wanting to play the best of five at the end of the season...

Bring best of five back - bring Anke Huber back too!! Whaaaa!! :bigcry: ;)

Yeah, Graf beat Huber in 5 sets in 1995 and then Hingis in 5 sets in 1996. Were those matches of a high quality?

Sabatini-Seles in 1990 was of the highest quality-but the other five setters were very uneven in quality.

I liked Martina H. vs Monica in 2000 but was it a five setter ?

I think Graf won two bagel sets from Hingis. I think Hingis was a little injured during the match though?

No that was best of 3, it was a great match though. Hingis won in 3 sets. The match was on tape delay and ABC only showed the 1st and 3rd sets.

Why doesn't YEC final come back to the best-of-five?

Kim played that final well, it was Mauresmo who sucked badly.

good work to Kim! She should win a major next year.
