View Full Version : The most easily won Grand Slam?

As far as I can remember, Steffi's 94 AO victory is the most easily won one. She didn't lose a set and none of the sets went to a tie-breaker if I remember it right. She beat Arantxa losing only two games or so. Kimiko put up a good fight winning a total of 6 games in the semis.
Hingis won the 97 Ao with great ease as well.. I don't know how many games she lost but I'm positive she didn't lose a set either en rout to the title.

Raymond was 2 pts from the first set, and Monica shut her down and never looked back. I don't remember exactly, but I think she was only broken on serve like 2 or 3 times from Porwick to the title.

To me "easily won" is by games. Each match continuall over 7 matches with least games dropped. I'm open to other criteria.

ok calm down, i didnt want to dishonor seles as the greatest, cuz we all know thats a huge crime  ...im just saying what if someone won like 7-6 6-7 7-6 in a round and then blasted through everyone else and someone comfortably went throught their matches but dropped more games...who had the easier time??

R64Elna Reinach (RSA) 6-1 6-2
R128Tina Krizan (SLO) 6-1 6-0

Lost 30 games...

Her win was also noteably easy, really did a good job of beating the top seeds. Even tho there was no Monica or Steffi.

Venus' win in 2001 was special because it really was tough competition that grand slam, with her, Serena, Hingis, Davenport, and Capriati all possible winners. I don't think some of the other easy grand slams had that much competition.

But Martina definitely has the record for most easily won grand slam. :worship:

Hey, what about the most dificult run in a slam?? I'd like to know who lost the most games in order to win a slam :)

I think Jennifer had a very tough path to her first major at the 2001 AO.
She had a relatively easy final but her QF and SF matches were real tough!

Serena's 99 U.S. Open was also quite tough. Many hard fought three setters!

Maybe Serena at the US Open 99, she went to 3 sets in 4 of her matches and nearly went to three in the finals.

Serena lost 64 games and average of about 9 games per match.

Yes, FO92 was horrible for her! She was down 4-1 15-30 in the Quarters, and 4-2 30-40 in the Semis. All that for a 10-8 in the 3rd final. ;)
