Looks like Sharapova is the last player who is guaranteed to be seeded for AO Open 2004. From Maleeva #30 to Kuznetsova #35, they would need to race to get some points for AO seedings by playing in the first week of 2004.

Of course, the rankings and AO seedings will be determined after Auckland/Gold Coast. Soon, we have to find out which players will be playing at Auckland and Gold Coast.

You are better off just taking Auckland and Goldcoast off, that is when the seedings are made.

Eggy, can you confirmed this that the first two weeks from last year are taken off? If Hobart pts do not count, then I will revised then.

Yes, Gold Coast/Auckland and Sydney/Canberra/Hobart will come OFF for those rankings

and only Gold Coast/Auckland will go ON.

AO starts one week later this year.

We can't forget about a certain Hungarian-Yugoslavian-American who will probably get an Oz seed somewhere equal to, or better than 18.

Faboozadoo, as Monica fans, I think we should want her to be seeded #18 because then she could meet anyone ranked from #9-#16 in the third round. And if she is drawn to meet 9-12, then she would meet 5-8 in the fourth round. Whereas if she's seeded 16, she's defininitely slated to meet 1-4 in the fourth round. It's a slight difference, but..

venus should be seeded eighth, seles sixteenth and pierce 30 between 32!

Cool. But Venus as 4/5/6 maybe and Monica 16.

BTW, any non-top 16 can play a top 16 in R3. So Monica as #18 could play #9 in R3. If she were 16, she'd play 17-24, which is better. :yeah:

all i know is that if monica is not seeded (and with her lack of luck with draws) she will play andre agassi first round...

yes that's right, she'd be transplanted into the men's draw....

True or venus will be giving a different top player a fourth round nightmare. The odds are greater that she will draw justine kim or amelie.

That won't happen.
Unless Venus drops to 13( Which is very unlikely)

no. 1-4 seeds meets 13-16 seeds in the 4th round
no. 5-8 seeds meet 9-12 seeds in the 4th round

so the earliest V + S matchup is the quarterfinal.

Where did you get that information? I thought no. 1-8 seeds meet no. 9-16 in the the 4th round?

What about 3rd round format?

No 1-4 seeds meet No 29-32 seeds
No 5-8 seeds meet No 25-28 seeds
No 9-12 seeds meet No 21-24 seeds
No 13-16 seeds meet No 17-20 seeds

or

No 1-8 seeds meet No 25-32 seeds
No 9-16 seeds meet No 17-24 seeds

or

No 1-16 seeds meet No 17-32 seeds

I THINK 3rd round goes like this
1-8 seeds meet 25-32 seeds
9-16 meets 17-24 seeds
1-4 meet 29-32
5-8 meet 25-28
9-12 meet 21-24
13-16 meet 17-20

*i'll check to see if I'm right*

It's not that bad . . . She's not far behind the pack. I'm sure she'll have a seeding at at least one Grand Slam next year.

Ok, you are cute ;)

Well I looked at Aus Open 2002 draw and that was looked like:

No 1-8 seeds meet No 25-32 seeds in 3rd round
No 9-16 seeds meet No 17-24 seeds in 3rd round

and

No 1-4 seeds meet 13-16 seeds in 4th round
No 5-8 seeds meet 9-12 seeds in 4th round

and

No 1-4 seeds meet 5-8 seeds in QF

~SunFlower~

Unless Venus drops to 13( Which is very unlikely)

no. 1-4 seeds meets 13-16 seeds in the 4th round
no. 5-8 seeds meet 9-12 seeds in the 4th round

so the eariest V + S matchup is the quarterfinal.

So, I guess you are right then! :yeah:
