I am basing this on the fact that Jennifer's injury seems to be affecting her more tonight than it did the other day. Right now Jennifer is 1-1, 2-2 and Anastasia is 1-1, 3-2 and any combination of a winn by either player gets them into the semis.

There is one extra variable here. What is Jennifer withdraws, Petrova comes in, beats Myskina and with one match only she will still end the Round Rubin with a record superior to Myskina's one..

Don't the rules say something about if there is a 3-way tie with 1 win each, and one player has played fewer matches than the others, she is eliminated? So if Petrova replaced Capriati, and beat Myskina, Petrova would be eliminated. That would make it between Capriati and Myskina. Capriati might also be eliminated by the "fewer matches" rule. And if not, aren't the standings based on wins, not record? Both would have 1 win, and thus it would go to sets W/L, giving Myskina the semi.

Brian is correct:

if Jen withdraws its simple
Anastasia Myskina is in semis no matter what.

Myskina will win. Capriati can't hardly move. If Jen just attacks her serve and plays brilliant with limited movement by dictating the points, then she may have a chance, but Myskina will be 2 quick and she plays 2 many angels. Anway, even if Jen does win she won't beat Kim in her condition.
