She looks like breaking into the top 10 shortly, maybe early next year.
She has a couple of doubles GS titles which none other Asian player has accomplished. She made the YEC by winning two tier II titles and some other decent results. She has had quite a few wins over top 10 players this year. So, is it safe to say she has proven that she's the best asian that has ever played the sport?

I love her game...she is so much fun to watch
Against Serena at RG it was just  Every player should put so much effort into her game.

What about Nana Miyagi? I loved the way she'd attempt funny antics on court that nobody ever laughed at. Is she dead now?

Kimiko Date is still awesome , but if Ai can just break into the top 5 she will be the best....but who knows?!

My vote would still goto Kimiko Date, but IMO Ai is a very close 2nd.

I only know about Date, Sawamatsu and Basuki, they all were great!!
I'm sure in the past there were great tennis players from Asia
But IMO she's not the best ever at all, not even the best Japanese, but who knows what will she do in the future....

Next year I think Ai will be Asia's player to watch!
