WIMBLEDON 1996 Semi final.

Steffi Graf -vs- Kimiko Date

Kimiko in her career has always been known as a
slow starter. If you watched the video footage
BJK and Mary Carillo were anticipating the Kimiko
comeback in the 2nd set as she always has.
Unfortunately for Kimiko, me , BJK , Mary Carillo,
and the entire population of Japan who were tuned
glued to their tv sets (highest rated TV sporting
event ever in Japan, until the World Cup 2002!!)
it got dark and the match was suspended!!!!!
It continued the next day,and naturally Kimiko
started slow. Steffi played even faster and
it was over. To this day everyone, yes even
Steffi herself acknowledges that a Grand Slam
was a sure thing for Kimiko if she stayed at least
one more season, rather than retire in 1996!!!

Nov 5th, 2003, 01:13 PM
Hard to pick one, but probably Wimbledon 1992, so Monica would have the GS.

Other candidates: FO1998 so Monica would have her tenth major

Also, I wonder what trajectory Hingis' career would have taken if she had won even ONE of her last five GS finals, especially vs. Capriati at AO2002!

I also wish Venus had beaten Serena in the past year, but there is time to remedy that!

And lastly, Capriati vs. JHH at USO this year. Great match, but painful!

Martina vs Jen ´02 OZ final. two games, two games Martina!!! And then of course Serena vs Jen ´01 Wimby. Me thinks that if she wins that match would have had two all-Williams finals in a row and maybe Serena would have been three-time defending champion right now.

I would have liked to have seen:

1. Martina win the FO 1999
2. Amanda beat Iva in RG semi 97.
3. Monica win the FO against Arantxa 98
4. Steffi win W'don 99
5. Lindsay win W'don 2000

7. And why not - I would let Anna K win one of the finals she got to. I'm not that sadistic :)

Maybe Natasha's RG final next. You'd have to use up a whole wish, just to get Natasha to win another game though.

Justine vs. Venus at '02 Amelia Island final. Should have been 6-2,6-4  :(

True. If all those wishes came true, Steffi would end up slamless.
But hey, I'm not selfish, I'd let her keep RG '87, Golden Grand Slam, Wimbledon '89, US Open '89, Australian Open '90, Wimbledon '91, US Open '95 and RG '99. That's enough. ;)
