Not sure if this has been posted yet. Sorry if it has.

The LA Times reported that Hardenne requested a Thursday start because she is suffering from a fever. They said she had to cancel a practice on Monday and was unable to even work out off the court for more than a few minutes.

It's in today's paper.

I was wondering why she wasn't playing tomorrow.

Does that mean she will have to play two matches in one day?

if it is mind games, it is not supposed to work against a girl who said this about Justine just weeks ago..

Q: You know, your fans often say that your game is not right, difficult to understand, and even experts can't explain your results.

A: It is just that I always see the goal. I think about every motion, about every expression of my face. During the match every detail is important. You know, Justine Henin-Hardenne is such an actress - oh!

A: Then how dod you manage to beat her? Nobody could do that for so long, she looked absolutely unbeatable..

Q: Too many players buy on that - on her play - on her play of an actress. Justine can, for instance, very naturally play cramps, to put her opponent off balance.

A: Why are you so sure that she is faking?
Q: I got that impression from my intuition. It happened so many times, her opponent buys on that, goes one level down, and then Henin-Hardenne suddenly recovers and takes advantage of her opponent losing focus.

A: But she could not do that to you?
Q: I just decided not to pay attention to anything, stay as cool as her. She is used to be the one controllling the situation and here she realised that her acting doesn't get to me. And I finished her off on that.

if the wta give her 24hours delay, that means she is really sick!!!

She will not have to play two matches in one day, and the schedule was NOT adjusted for her.

This is an article from her official website (www.henin-hardenne.be)

Fever…
04/11/2003:

The Masters will start in Los Angeles on Wednesday, but it’ll be a slower start for Justine than expected…

Justine arrived in Los Angeles Saturday evening but unfortunately, she in the plane and during a photo shoot on Sunday afternoon for Adidas, it got worse.

She wasn’t able to train yesterday because she stayed in bed all day with fever. It’s a bit better now with the antibiotics the doctor gave her but she stays very weak.

This doesn't mean she won't be able to play her match on Thursday...she will do everything to heal and to be there!

So, where is "real" translation? Link?
I made a babelfish translation, even if it is completly broken, you can read what she said :

Q: you know, your worshippers frequently say that in you the game some is incorrect, is incomprehensible, and even specialists cannot explain many, whence such results are taken.
A: simply 4 always to stavlyu before itself target/purpose.I think about each motion, above the expression of its face.During the match any part has a value. You do know, Justine 3nen-Ardenn what actress?about-about- o-o-o!..
Q: But how for you it was possible to beat it?So for long this no one succeeded, it produces the impression of that of completely not penetrated.
A: many to this are bought?to its game, precisely, actor's.Justine can, for example, it is natural to depict spasms in order to morally knock out rival from the track.
Q: whence such confidence, that it does simulate?
A: at the level of intuition in me was formed this impression.Because how often thus occurred:rival is bought, yue sbavlyaet revolutions, and the 3nen- ardennes sharply it gets better and its slack state into his benefit is used.
Q: But you by it knocked out from the track could not be?
A: simply I decided not on what not to turn attention. To behave is so imperturbable as it.Bel'giyka indeed became accustomed to manage situation, and she here understood that her game (in the sense actor's) does not break through me.It reaped to the volume of 4 it.

After RG incident I told it here right away, that we can argue about that incident all we want, some will blame Henin, and some will defend her, but for professional players the episode ha dno ambiguity whatsoever. As they should publsih an OFFICAL report on why Venus and Serena pull out of more than half of the touneys EVERY YEAR..that mo fo would be a 5 volume graphic NOVEL!

How can one lie for such a thing ?
If I undertand the 'article' well, it says Justine has fever. But when you have fever, doesn't your body temperature increase ?
If Justine managed in a way to "cheat" (all the Justine haters love this word) with her doctor, then many people would like to know how.
For example, when you don't want to go to school in the morning, you could fake a fever !!

So, where is "real" translation? Link?

I've been looking for it but I can't find it. The interview was translated by someone on a messageboard, if only I could remember where I read it… I think it was at this board but I’ve looked around and I haven’t found it so far. But anyway if there is anyone of the Russians here that can vouch for the translation (besides ys) I would be grateful because I’m not very inclined to believe anything that comes from ys (he’s too much of a Juju critic for that).

If the translation is actually correct then :o Can you imagine Juju or the WS making such comments about a player and getting away with it the way Nastya got away with this then?? Ugh :o

I guess I feel sorry for Justine, one way or another.
If all these injuries and illnesses really are true, then I think it is sad for a player that good to be so injury/ill prone.
If however they are not true, then I still feel sorry for her that she is so insecure that she creates these little safety nets SHOULD she lose.

Whatever the case is, I think you can't really hold it against people to question what she says, 'cuz the fact is that her name has come up alot this year in twisted little incidents.
I agree with what someone already stated: I think her reputation suffered a huge blow after the RG thing ( + all the other incidents didn't help) and the public and maybe other players (like Nastya) pick up on that.
Remember the boy who cried wolf.

With that being said I'm looking forward to a week of (hopefully) exciting tennis (though missing Serena and Venus, can't wait for next year!!) :)

You know who this reminded me of (besides Justine)? Steffi Graf. Seriously. I remember during Wimbledon in '96, Martina Navratilova accusing Graf of using her various health ailments as a buffer should she lose. I can't help but wonder if she got as much criticism for her injuries/illnesses as Justine does now. Anyone know?

As far as the legitimacy of Justine's health problems, would any of this really be an issue if she had lost those matches? I think not. She's not the first player to win a match when injured or after asking for an injury time-out, and she won't be the last. Why single her out?

Remember usopen semifinal against Capriati?

She had cramps but didn't take time out. And in fact you're allowed now to take a injury time oput for cramps.

Haven't you seen Ai Sugiyama against Mauresmo last week?
Ai dit take time out during the game and she hadn't even signs of cramps on that moment!!!
That I call unsportive behaviour. She could have wait until the game was over before taking time out.

Sorry, I'm not tenn_ace or Lady, but I have to comment your quote
because I was there and I saw it.
1. The moment. This interview was few minutes after KC final
And it's only part of interview of player who WON Leipzig & Moscow
and who first of all could BEAT juju in Leipzig 3-6 6-3 6-3
http://boxmail.biz/constructor/img/59237.jpg
and Ameli in Moscow finals.
It was great day for Nastya.
2.There are problems always when you knew only part of the long story.
It's the same, IMHO.
http://boxmail.biz/constructor/img/59149.jpg
Elena -russian journalist likes "woman" questions more than tennis one
and she used the moment when Nastya was really happy and ready to tell anybody almost evrything they wanted to hear.
3 what's wrong that Nastya said truly what she felt in Leipzig?

IMHO, Natya is very honest person and I liked her off-court very much.
