QUEBEC CITY -- Russian teen Maria Sharapova won the Bell Challenge tennis title Sunday when Milagros Sequera quit after breaking her left ankle at the start of the second set.
Sequera, the Pan Am Games champion, injured herself running for a ball at deuce in the first game of the second set. She was examined by a trainer, then taken to a hospital.
Sharapova won the first set 6-2.
It's the second WTA Tour title for the 16-year-old Sharapova, who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon.
Her first career championship came at last month's Japan Open.
