Kim Clijsters! Pick a Slam match she lost.

-Lead Serena 5-1 in the third at the Australia; lost the match 7-5 in the third.

-Didn't even show up in the French finals 0-6 4-6

-Lead Venus by a set and a break at Wimbledon; Venus was INJURED, and couldn't close it out

-Couldn't beat Henin, who survived a 3 hour marathon with Capriati.

Biggest chock? Clijsters

It was between Vera/Anna and Kim/Serena for me.

The latter wins because Kim had MP and Vera didn't, but both were just hideous, simply hideous.

Kim/Serena at AusOpen, simply because it was a Slam
Vera in New Haven is really big, but in small tournament

Anna/Vera in Linz was not a choke at all

Kim's match was not the biggest choke
You have to also look at the quality of player they supposedly "choked" against. Serena's a player who can turn on her best tennis and come back against anyone. And they had already split sets, so it wasnt like Kim was completely dominating Serena, like it was the case in some of those other matches in the poll. Cant believe that match is leading the poll!

I think the biggest choke was Vera vs Anna P. No one should ever lose a match after leading 6-0 5-1.

And also up there is Serena leading Mauresmo 6-1 4-2 in Rome, but then losing the next two sets 7-5 6-3

most painful loss was Kim vs Serena
most annoying was Jennifer vs Justine
most pityful was Hantuchova's

wasn't Serena leading a set and 5-3 in Rome?

not that it makes it any better :)

bandabou

Yeah....Serena started to get the annoying abilitie to let people in matches again. She has to start working on that again...she nearly blew the match against Jen at wimby as well...she was completely cruising and then when serving for the match she goes down breakpoint after breakpoint. Not good.

A few honorable mentions:

Henin-Hardenne def. Capriati (U.S. Open semi)
Henin-Hardenne def. S.Williams (French Open semi)

Both Capriati and Williams had many chances and probably should have won those matches in straight sets, but got tight when it counted most, and Justine just kept on fighting.

Aus Open: Davenport lead Henin 5-7 7-5 4*-1 , i think if she won that match it wouldve set a better tone for lindsasy year

Don't forget Mauresmo's rather poor loss to Clijsters in Rome, worse as it came in the final. There she was up a set and *6-5, serving for the title, and proceeded to lose the next eight games of the match. The crowd contained a lot of French pro-Mauresmo supporters as well, so the last set was pretty painful...

To many chokes to choose from!

I chose Zvonereva/Pistolesi because that was serious meltdown of epic proportions...6-0, 5-1 ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? WTF?!?!

If they are passing out crowns or badges for Queen of the Choke it would be Kim...her Grandslam finals have been disgraceful.

French Open 03 and US OPEN 03 :o :o :o :o :o :o :speakles:

Weren't both of these finals under an hour?

She just gave them away!

Wasn't this the one where Vera broke down crying...fell onto the baseline... and had to be helped off the court by Anna?
