I just watched her on Bulgarian TV and she said she is overtired and she won't play Luxembourg. She said also that she has done the maximum she can play and she has achieved good results this year, having also won one tournament. She said she will play Australian Open!

OK Maggie, relax good and be ready for the next year!

The season is way TOO LONG...... Have a good rest Maggie. I think most players are feeling it right about now and ready for the off season!

She'll need to go to LA for the year end doubles. She and Liezel Huber will be the alternates if there are any withdrawals or injuries and get paid for just being on standby.

Too bad, would have liked to see Maggie go to Luxembourg as she has had good results there in the past :(

Hope that Maggie can have a rest, relax, and come back motivated and eager to do well in Australia :D

That wouldn't be very fair to Liezel if that were the case. There are four pairs to go. They are 6th. #4 pair Davenport & Raymond won't be playing. The #2 pair is 50/50 i.e Clijsters & Sugiyama. Will Kim want to play both singles and doubles and is Ai's injury up to playing?
Here's the top 8 as we stand. Black & Likhovtseva are now really 4 and so on.

1 VIRGINIA RUANO PASCUAL - / PAOLA SUAREZ - 3851.00 15
2 KIM CLIJSTERS - / AI SUGIYAMA - 3581.00 11
3 SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA - / MARTINA NAVRATILOVA - 2695.00 15
4 LINDSAY DAVENPORT - / LISA RAYMOND - 2329.00 11
5 CARA BLACK - / ELENA LIKHOVTSEVA - 1962.00 18
6 LIEZEL HUBER - / MAGDALENA MALEEVA - 1523.00 13
7 MARIA VENTO-KABCHI - / ANGELIQUE WIDJAJA - 1099.00 11
8 VENUS WILLIAMS - / SERENA WILLIAMS - 938.00 2

I don't know MirjanaLfan, but the way she talked in the interview I have that feeling...

Maybe no more singles for 2003 but I'll bet she goes to LA as standby for doubles. Nobody's going to turn down a good pay cheque for just showing up even if they don't get to play ;) .

Sorry to hear that Maggie won't be playing the rest of the year. Just glad it's not anything serious.

And isn't it only 2 matches maximum at the doubles year end champs anyway? 4 teams doing a normal tournament draw type thing?

she should so go even if she just plays one point and retires! big money there :)

They will play, it is only two doubles matches, Kim has said she will play. AI's injury is apparently up for it, don't know about reality though - it is supposed to be broken :o But she is still playing and if there was any doubt in her being fit for LA I seriously doubt she would be playing ZUrich and Linz which she is - so it must be going to be ok for LA
