I doubt it. Beyonce is rich and Famous.

If Griff was rich and Famous she'd probably live like Queen Latifah - using call girls regurlarly :D

Oh man y'all act like she called Madonna and Britney 'dirty lesbians' or something. She said she wouldn't do it.

“I couldn’t do what Britney and Madonna did at the MTV Awards. I knew it was going to happen from rehearsals but it was still a shock when they did it.

“I kept thinking, maybe it’s just a rumour and they’re not going to really do it. Then they did and it was a real eye-opener.”

Boy she really talked bad about Britney and Madonna.

I mean just cause she wouldn't kiss a woman doesn't mean she has a problem with lesbians. Is that measuring stick? If you're for two straight ( i use the term losely) women kissing then your pro lesbians?

“I have standards. There are things I will not do.”

Speaking exclusively to The Sun as she prepares for her first UK tour, the 22-year-old tells me: “I always carry myself like a lady. I don’t feel like I ever do anything raunchy."

"It’s [her performances] entertainment and I believe God is OK with that"

...

"When I’m on stage it’s completely different. I’m not really me, it’s just a performance."

So she's just putting on an act, which is ok, but Britney and Madonna were being raunchy - which she would never do, because she has standards. Not, "not my thing," not "not me" but "I have standards."

Sorry, Rocketta, but that sounds pretty judgemental to me (ftr, I thought "the kiss" was a tired, lame stunt)

She never said that the kiss was raunchy! Those two quotes are half an article away from each other. The first half of the article she is speaking about herself and God and what people think of her and her relationship to God and her act. What makes you think she was referring to Britney and Madonna when she said raunchy? Shouldn't they be in the same vacinity to assume she was speaking about Brit and Madonna.

I read it to mean she doesn't do things on stage that she deems raunchy eventhough some think her dress is not appropriate for someone who talks about God.

Looks to me she was asked about the kiss and she gave her opinion. If she thought the kiss was raunchy why wouldn't she say that?

Besides, is this the same paper that is listed in this article?

Nicole Kidman Wins Libel Case Over Adultery Slur
Tue Oct 14, 7:35 AM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman (news) won a five-figure sum and an apology Tuesday from a British newspaper that said she had had an affair with actor Jude Law (news) and was to blame for the break-up of his marriage.

At London's High Court, the tabloid Sun newspaper admitted the allegations about Kidman, which were published in March, were untrue.

"The defendants apologize to the claimant for the distress and embarrassment this article has caused," said the Sun's lawyer Daniel Taylor.

Kidman, who was not in court, said in a statement she was glad the case was over.

Two months ago she won damages against another British newspaper that had published the same claims.

The marriage split between "Road To Perdition" star Law and his wife Sadie Frost (news) triggered widespread media coverage in Britain earlier in the year.

It is the same paper. It's not one of the most reputable in England.

It kind of sounds like the UK's version of the National Enquirer. :o

Why Beyonce would grant them exclusive interview rights is beyond me...:o

Griff, I actually see the part your referring to, now . Honestly, I question this publication. It wouldn't surprise me if they are writing this in a certain way to cause some controversy between "stars". Like anyone who is a fan of Brittney or Madonna gives a hoot what Beyonce' has to say or vice versa. For example we haven't a clue as to what Beyonce' was asked. They print this article like it is an interview yet we don't know any of the questions? Was Beyonce' rambling? or was she asked a question and if yes, what was it?

But I still think she did not call them raunchy as you see she mentions raunchy in the next paragraph and is referring to herself not being raunchy as if that is what she is called.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun as she prepares for her first UK tour, the 22-year-old tells me: “I always carry myself like a lady. I don’t feel like I ever do anything raunchy.

“Maybe people here have a different meaning of the word raunchy, but I’m not disrespectful or dirty or nasty. The movements to Crazy In Love were inspired by a traditional African dance — I don’t think there’s anything TOO sexy about it."

I don't think she was talking about anyone but herself. Why exactly would she grant an interview to talk about other celebs mainly anyway?

I couldn't care less about Britney and Madonna, but you're right griffin, that girl is judging. Who the hell does she think she is? You know what this is about: because Britney and Madonna came out the awards show the most talked about, whereas she wasn't. That's what it comes down too. It's pretty obvious that she has a problem with lesbians too.

You are pathetic, Beyonce.. VERY VERY PATHETIC.

Oct 16th, 2003, 12:27 AM
I think what Beyonce was trying to say is that for the sake of entertainment she would dress provocatively but not do something that would make her feel uncomfortable, like kissing another women. Don't we all have our own limit of what we would or wouldn't do in public? Maybe it's because I'm straight, but I don't see her opinion as being homophobic.

I personally never thought the Madonna/Britney kiss was promoting lesbianism. It was more like, "Let's shock the audience with our rehearsed porn kiss since we both need the publicity". IMO

:hehehe: Just for the record, I'm not a Beyonce fan.

She has no place to say that stripping is ok but kissing another girl is bad, who is she to judge?

I think what Beyonce supporters (like me) are trying to say is that tabeloids are biast and selective in their reporting. I'm sure many here would've realised that by now...seeing as there are many threads which point out the inconsistency in news stories of certain players. For example, the hype about Kournikova/Phillipousas pairing or the controversial claims, made back in 1992, by the London newspapers (which are certainly amongst the most notorious in the world) that Monica was pregnant ( ). Or what about the time when the Herald Sun (Melbourne) wrote damaging reports about Jelena slagging off Australia, but refusing to hand over interview tapes at Jelena's request to prove to everyone else that her quotes had been taken out of context.

And from what I understand, Beyonce was trying to say that she would prefer to dress provocatively rather than kiss another woman. Many girls would like to do that not because they're homophobic, but because it's unusual and uncomfortable for them. And anyway, I applaud Beyonce for focusing on giving the audience entertainment rather than doing what Madge and Brit did...which was purely for "excitement".

I learnt not to take everything from the newspapers as the gospel truth.

I'm not very tradition-bound....I know it's quite contradictory but I don't associate my belief with tradition, so I do the ones that are important to me, but going to shul isn't one of them...except on special occasions, like yom kippour or most holidays actually I believe honouring the shabbat isn't about going to shoul it's about communicating with yourself honouring G-d in the way I feel is best... and being in the same place as a lot of people I can't stand (I have many "enemies" in the jewish community....) isn't one of them :)

The way I read I read it, she was saying she wouldnt do it because it would compromise her 'personal relationship with God', which to me indicates that she sees something morally wrong with it. Which is ironic coming from someone who has made their fortune pushing their body into the spotlight for millions of middle aged men to wank over. She may think like a Christian, but she realises it doesnt pay to dress like one.

I don't think Beyonce meant anything against the gay community when she made this statement. She simply said that their is certain things she will not do, and that being KISSING A WOMAN.

What I'm sick of is gay people expecting everyone to agree with their lifestyle. Some people just will not agree with it. Now, beyonce made a claim about HERSELF and the things she would not do for SHOCK value. She never said anything about GAY/LESBIAN people.

Accept it for what it is, and MOVE ON!

JonBcn
Oct 16th, 2003, 05:07 PM
I do accept it. I dont give a toss what Beyonce thinks about anything; but the impression she gave in her interview was that the reason she wouldnt do something like that because she thought it would compromise her relationship with god; NOT that she wouldnt do it for shock value. I doubt very much that she has got anything against the gay community though...after all plenty of gay boys buy her records and plenty of drag queens try to look like her.

Oh, I've accepted Beyonce's comment for what it was and moved on unfortunately others need to do so also. She simply stated that she would not kiss a girl(what britney and madonna did). Is that a big deal?

NO! It's not.

All I'm saying is that not everyone accepts lesbianism, or gayness or agree with that lifestyle. I know it's unpopular on these boards to say this but it's the truth.

As for me I don't care what people do with their lives. It's their choice and I accept people as "PEOPLE" regardless of who you are. However, I'm just being realisitc when I say that people should not expect others to agree with their lifestyles.

No, I know you weren't attacking me, and even under my reading of what she said, I don't consider Knowles a raging 'phobe :)

My point is that people "don't approve" of the way other people live for all kinds of reasons and in general, no that doesn't matter - but if someone puts their opionions out in public, no one should be suprised if people respond in public. I mean if I popped off in the office about how I disagree with Catholicism*, for example, I"m sure the Catholics in the office at least (and anyone else who thought I was full of it) would respond - that doesn't mean they want or need my approval.

Yeah, yeah, much ado about nothing....

Id agree with people who would question the source...The Sun is the smutty Jewel in Rupert Murdoch's sleazy crown, and is usually as reactionary as you'll find...think a newspaper version of Fox News but with more boobs. ;)

The views quoted in the article are the kind The Sun would usually reflect...

Hope its all made up...but I do find the over-bearing Christianity stuff in the article quite depressing...

Wonder if Beyonce's (Or The Sun's?) Christian values include would stretch to what appears on page 3 of The Sun each day...(large spread of women in a top-free kinda situation)

Ive bought The Sun maybe three of four times ever...most of that was to see if they any photos of Julie Halard pre-wimbledon, when she was seeded. No, not THOSE kinda photos. :o

Hey guess what Rocketta, I've been talking to people and spreading these "news" and looks like your girl ain't too popular anyways. Most see her as hypocritical for thinking that God would let strip on stage but not kiss girls. They all say, she's a little "not there" up there, if you what I mean. Haha!

This is somebody's exact quote: "but the 'I know God is not mad at me for shaking my ass on stage' thing does make her sound...well...a bit demented."

Looks like she'll still have you to kiss her ass though.

Spread, the word folks, if we all do it, we can succeed.

If this was even said by Beyonce - then she is of course entitled to her opinion. But if she did say this, then we are all entitled to our opinion as well. All I have to say to her is.....
"We don't need, don't need, no haters
Just try to love one another
We just want y'all have a good time
No more drama in your life
Work real hard to make a dime
If you got beef, your problem, not mine
Leave all that BS outside
We're gonna celebrate all night
Let's have fun, tonight, no fights" - Mary J. Blige

Don't need no hateration. Just try to love one another. They just wanted us to have a good time - and Madonna, Britney, Christina, Missy, sure gave me a great performance - and from the words around town here - gave everybody else a good time as well.

Pink sure wished that she could have been apart of it - she has been quoted as saying she was supossed to be in the performance but was on vacation and couldnt make rehearsals - and that she really wished she could have been in the performance.....I bet.

Rock on Madonna!!!

Um so lemme get this straight...Beyonce is now homophobic just because she wont kiss another girl...:tape:

All of my straight female friends rebuke the idea of them kissing eachother. They think it is disgusting because they arent attracted to women. I guess they are homphobic also :tape:

Is it the fact that Beyonce wont kiss girls the reason why all these people are jumping on her back or is it because she is Christian? The idea of Christianity doesnt seem too popular around here, everyone is so judgamental about it...and you say that Bee is judjamental? :tape:

Many people don't. If you happen to be buying CD's of hers. I just you stop doing so right now. And spread the word about what she has to say. Many people buy her CD's because they don't know what type of a person she is. :)

I couldn't have said it better.

Notice how male performers like 50 cent and Eminem don't have to deal with this kind of expectation( same sex kissing ), and be called homophobic if they're not interested.
