Think you are the expert at locating points. Just wondering if you could do me a favour and pull up the amount of points that Alicia, Evie and Sam have to defend for the rest of the year.
I am interested to see if it is possible for Alicia to make no. 32 by year's end, and if Evie and Sam can make it direct entry into AO.

Alicia Molik has 71.75 points to defend until the end of the first week in January when seedings are worked fromt he rankings. Looking at the rankings I would estimate that Alicia needs to earn at least 200 points from the tournaments she plays untill Sydney/Hobart taking into considering she will be losing that 71.75, so in short she need to gain at least 130 points net, to give herself a great chance at a seed.
In terms of Evie and Samantha making the main draw of the Australian Open it is pretty hard. Evie has 86 points to defend until after the 5th Aussie Challenger and Stosur 73.5. Both these girls did well at the Challengers last year.
Evie would need to earn 120 points and Stosur 165 points to make direct entry for the Australian Open.
Stosur has given herself no chance as she hasnt committed to much other than the Aussie challengers. Evie also has a very slim chance given her terrible form

what happens if both girls lose in 1st round of Oz open and lose all those points roughly how far will they drop . .

so basically what you are saying is that it will take a miracle for either of them to get direct entry. Maybe miracle number one will be Evie winning the Japan Open this week. Hoping she does well.

Just noticed that Alicia was defending 42 of those points this week, so with her loss in qualifying she will drop back to about 37, of course that depends on what happens with those around her.
