I don't think 2 or 3 WC will go to Germans. One will go to Mary- she was champion here and she is GS winner. Maybe Iva will get WC because she is Anke friend and Anke is tournament director. I don't see Schett in commitment list but she can get WC too.

Yes Mary should get a wild card, I hope She do well in Filderstadt.

if she gets a q or another wc ALG is absolutely able to win a match in filderstadt. more than any other. but i'd also like to see her in q. wc should go to ANCA. RITTNER doesn't make sense - she will retire next year, i'm sure. but what does make sense in this federation?

It's not about how BLBC will get more points, it's about the German Fed. asking your tournaments to operate with some semblance of justice. In other words, "her country" (if they don't consider Anca's family, inc. TWO engineers as parents, some charity case from Romania) OWES IT TO HER!

It's sad that a promising player like Anna-Lena wound up being dragged into a controversy re. Leipzig essentially created by Lei Clijsters and the organizers of that tournament. (I guess a WC for Anca @ Antwerp would be justice, if she could handle the crowd hostility. And IMO, Elke should never, ever, ever get one "on Kim's back" again, in addition to losing one in the Benelux). :mad:

Just please no WC for Barbara Schett, that is the biggest joke, she is totally undeserving of it, she should have to play qualifying if she wants to play. To give a WC to Schett ahead of their own player Barna is outrageous. The Germans are really such idiots when it comes to tennis.

Re. Babsi: IF WC's were purely citizenship and (recent) playing results based, sure. But "Annaone" who follows the WTA could tell you otherwise. So with Babsi being @ the, er "tail end" of a good career, still having glamour appeal, and being from a Germanic neighbor country, its not out of line to give her a WC IMO. (You wanna clean that up, let's start @ the heart of this, with Anna & WC's). Plus, Babsi didn't rob Anca @ Leipzig, the Clijsters Clan did. Elke ought to @ least be double or triple "penalized", as in no "unearned" '04 WC's for Antwerp, Rosmalen, or Lux for example. (And IMO Anca should sue the DTB and the Leipzig tournament). So just as Anna-Lena isn't the villain (and Rittner merely a bigmouth idiot re. Leipzig), Babsi Schett shouldn't be penalized here.

I think one WC will go to Anna-Lena. And the other WC's I don't know. But I don't think that other german player will get one because they are to bad and have no chance to win it.

Well Groenefeld did manage to win a round in Leipzig so she'll get one I'd say. It's better to let a prospect play main draw than Anca Barna who isn't going to go much higher in the rankings than she already is. If Anca deserves to be in the draw then she'll prove it and qualify.

You folks still miss the point. Anca was robbed re Leipzig, while the DTB stood silently and watched. (Maybe I should say "raped" for dramatic effect). She is owed something COMPENSATORY by some combination of: the Leipzig event owners, the DTB, the WTA, and/or the Clijsters Clan. (Hey, Lei, you're always bitching about taxes, maybe paying an out of court settlement connected to the "family business" is deductible)!

Well, not giving her the chance to prove herself in her own country really sucked! Not to mention, Anca was at her career high ranking of #51, and has continued to improve the past 2 years. I think she could get quite a bit higher (say #30) if she keeps it up... Anca does have an extremely good qualifying record. I hope she at least plays and shows everyone what she can do.
