Terry, I just know you're gonna put my Sandrine forum to shame. :o ;)

I really want to see more matches in that win column! It's been a slow start for our girls but hopefully they'll get things going in Paris and on the Middle East swing. How bout I start a thread on upcoming tournaments? I'll check the commitment lists....May I??? :)

hopefully she will be adding some more victories to that record soon :D...its sad to see her struggle when she has so much talent and flair.

Iva get into form for the clay season and wreak some havoc :D...you are a French Open Champ after all :bounce:

Go Iva!!! :):):):)

Iva is very good at pulling surprises. I mean, who expected her to win RG '97? All we heard about during that event was Hingis Hingis Hingis.. until the last day, we saw Iva and her smiling face with the trophy! I think Iva will pull a big surprise, when we least expect it ;)
It's a crime to see a girl of her talent at #55... but it takes different players different amounts of time to regain their form. 2001 was really Iva's first full season back. Now let's hope she can stay healthy and take more steps to becoming the player she once was! She's still only 23, so there's many years left! :D

We know she can play better then she has so far this year, so things will only get better. :D :wavey: :wavey:

Barring injuries, I'd expect Iva to make a big splash this year. Last year she was just getting accustomed to being back on tour, and still had some pretty good results... once she gets over the injury which made her lose to McQuillan, she should be back on track. :bounce:

TS
Feb 4th, 2002, 06:28 PM
I definately agree guys, she is getting there!...Iva returned in April 2000...but battled on throughout the year with the injury (missing Wimbledon and the US Open)...so yes 2001 was her first full year on tour since 1998

Vanity, I hate to nitpick but I cant help myself, she's actually 24, but yep, thats still young!

Oh and Im gonna nitpick my own words too...she's actually no.54 now that Anke Huber has officially been removed from the list.

Like you guys I know she will be back! This year will be the year I just know it :) She showed us she still has the Majoli Magic when she had that epic against Martina in New York almost 6 months ago...cmon Iva show it again! :D

Enough ramblings from me! :wavey:

lol Terry. I'm still saying Iva has a TEN-match WTA winning streak, which is the joint second longest of any player this year...

oops brunof, got in here about 2 seconds after I'd changed my avatar :o It was Ollie Clueit, bassist with Meanwhile, Back In Communist Russia... (an amazing British post-rock group) and general best-looking boy on this planet (though my sources tell me he's grown a beard and currently looks dreadful, hence change of avatar...).

Iva's current ranking is #26!!! And she has very little to defend for the rest of the year besides the finals of Quebec City. She did play Vienna last year, and lost in the first round, so she can improve that result. And she lost 1st round at Wimby too, so she should improve that too. And then only a 2nd round showing at the Canadian Open, and a 3rd round at the Open. It is possible that Iva could play a few more hard court tournis before the Open and really push her ranking up!!! And we can also look forward to improved results after the USOpen as Iva has only Bahia (2nd rnd), Leipzig (1st rnd), Stuttgart (1st rnd) and Zurich (2nd rnd). Iva's year is just getting started!!! A top 16 finish is not impossible!!! Let's cheer for Iva to make the Top 16 and make the Championships for the first time since 1997!!!

Where is everyone? (I know Terry is not here right now, but there are other Iva fans to carry on in his absence) I guess we are all waiting for Iva's result against Iroda? Please win Iva!!!

Iva is playing very well this week and is through to the quarterfinals!!!! Some more excitement besides just little ole' me is deserved for our DIVA!

Iva is improving her results at this tourni and a couple of wins at Wimby would be very nice too!!!

Don't forget to support our girl!!!!

I've got a work-sponsored happy hour tomorrow night, but I still will find time to check her result, and I believe she really can't lose! Well, she can, but she still has improved or at least solidified her #26 ranking already.

HELLO!?!?!?! #26!!!!!!! THAT"S AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Keep on rolling IVA!!!!! Win tomorrow AND/OR win a few round at the Big W!!!!

TS
Jun 14th, 2002, 11:19 AM
Yeah thats great!!!!!!!!!! Top 25 right?!! woohoo!

I'll update after the tourn is over :o That way I can write all *5* wins down at once :p Cos, you know, she's gonna win it all! :D

I might not be around for the Iroda match, but Im sending out the vibes ;)

I can't believe that on Ivas worst surface she has her best grandslam result this year:eek:

Its good to see her having a good year but over the next few weeks she needs to get consistant and get back into the top 20:D

I feel like I'm going through an Iva withdrawal right now!!! I miss her!!! I guess she stayed in Europe after Fed Cup and that's why she's not playing any of the Cali tournis......
She'll remain at #23 tomorrow with 1181 points according to tenniscorner.net. Then going into San Diego, we have:

22 - Panova - 1189 - Lost 1st round San Diego last year to Rubin, but has a 1st round bye this year to face 2nd round Conchita or Likhovtseva.
21 - Rubin - 1190 - Lost 2nd last year in San Diego to Schett. Coetzer probable 2nd round, then Lindsay 3rd round.
20 - Raymond - 1210 - Did not play last year, but is playing this year vs Sugiyama 1st round, then Hantuchova 2nd round.
19 - Smashnova - 1253.5 - Did not play last year, but could face Frazier/Irvin 2nd round, then Dementieva 3rd round.
18 - Kremer - 1262.75 - Lost 2nd round last year. Has 1st round bye and will probably meet Pierce in 2nd round, then Venus.
17 - Maleeva - 1315 - Lost 3rd round last year, could meet Pisnik/Dechy 2nd round after 1st rd bye then, probably Clijsters.
16 - Bedanova - 1323 - Lost 3rd round last year, probably will get thru to Hantuchova in 3rd round this year too.

This is probably not a week that Iva's ranking will move up any unfortunately, and we could see a drop.....

Hey xcourt :wavey:

Im having Iva withdrawals too!!! Cant wait for next week!

It certainly gets quiet in here when she is not playing :o

BTW, thanks for providing the ranking analysis :) A pity no-one around her has anything to defend, so she may get overtaken, but Im confident she'll haul em in come Finland ;)

xcrtbckhnd
Jul 30th, 2002, 01:45 AM
I wish she was playing next week, but we have to wait 2 weeks until Finland...

I'm afraid that a lot of other players will take advantage of winning a few rounds in these Cali tournis and Iva's ranking will slip. I am with you though- I hope Iva does really well in Finland, but it's going to be a blessing in disguise if she wins it b/c then she'll have to hop a plain and immediately get into gear for the hard courts!!! That will be a difficult adjustment to say the least. And if her ranking slips, it will be even more difficult for her to get into the main draw of New Haven..... Gosh Iva- why didn't she play the Cali circuit!?!?!?! Oh well, let's just trust that she knows what she's doing!!!

xcrtbckhnd
Jul 30th, 2002, 03:28 AM
My bad! You were right Terry- Finland is next week, I don't know why I thought it was another week off!!! I'm so glad I was wrong!!! Almost time to start the "Iva in Finland" cheering thread here!!!! YEAH!!!!
That is good news because it lessens the chances that other players will overtake her in the rankings!!!

xcrtbckhnd
Sep 17th, 2002, 01:59 AM
She had put herself solidly in the Top 25 and now I believe she will drop out (check the TennisCorner site). Does anyone know how far Iva's ranking will drop by not defending her finalist points from Quebec? I'm hoping she's just at 26 or 27 or something?

I have unstuck this thread now, as season 2003 is upon us.

Since the last post (before this one of course) was 3 months ago I had to bump this up one final time or else it wouldve been lost into oblivion, and you guys would've wondered where it disappeared to :p

Say goodbye as this thread sinks into Diva heaven
