Try not to take to much interest in what Azza says, I got over trying to comprehend preteens along time ago.

Timea Bacinzky is a young swiss player, and Have seen her play in u15 tournaments in Zurich, and Bern. They are a apparent Jewish family. She has a good all round game, good serve, Very Good Forehand and back hand good aswell. Good all round power game. She does show a good net game aswell. Inconsistency is probably her letdown, but when you have 14 year old girls, I geuss thats something within their game, shell learn to harness it eventually.

Watching her play I think she is like Martina, in a lot of ways, but with more power. She has worked with Molitor apparently also. She does all those sneeky things in the warm up Martina does as well LOL

I met Timea Baczinsky's mother at a tournament last year, she is a very nice lady. It seems that Timea's parents have a healthy and positive attitude regarrding their daughter's tennis. Both of Timea's parents were born in Hungary. As I remember they live in Geneva now.

Why is she long forgotten, I thought she was still playing? Timea is just more recognizable to be the nest biggest thing rather then Tina.

In SUI Timea has to physically go to school @ her age. Mischa Krajicek (a great player who I'm not dissing, BTW) gets to do that online, while playing bigger events, like the imminent Grade A Burger King Orange Bowl in Key Biscayne.

swissfan

The fame of Timea Baczinsky could also work to the advantage now of Tina. Certainly Patty Schnyder benefitted greatly from playing in the "shadow" of Martina Hingis in the early years of her career. This brought Patty recognition while not putting her under the pressure to be the nation's top player. Baczinsky may do similarly for Schmassmann in coming years.

Well I havn't been here latley, but congratulations on Timea getting to the Semi Final, being beaten by Israel Shahaar Peer, Not bad for where her ranking is in juniors, Shaharr is a little older then Timea, I have seen both of their games, Once at Swisscom and there was a Highlights of Timeas Game and the Junior Finals, Though Peer did win Timea has more fluency in her shots and defintly her game which is based on Power, but is also gifted at the Net and angles, The finesse side of things she looks excellent, Shahaar seems to go on an all out explosion, Powerful and Errounonous though, Though it's probably not very factual to make a large Basis, I have seen enough of Timea to believe that she is defintly a more gifted player then what Shaharr is.

I guess school prevented Timi from making the Fed Cup squad. Obviously Zoltan would have picked her as he's coached her extensively. The "other Martina" Who Won't be 16 till July, isn't even ITF ranked (though she probably won't play anyway). And I Think The Mideast will have peace B4 MGM plays Fed. For SUI!

I had a question about Timea. I know she's still 15 but she seems so talented.. so why is she playing such a dumb schedule. She only seems to play some low challengers at times, and with those challengers her ranking won't be any better than it is now. She can easily play 75k challengers or low Tier tournaments sometimes. Because of her schedule she even can't play the quallifications of Roland Garros I believe. I hope her schedule will be better soon and that she can lift up her ranking! :D

OMFG! Timi is getting fat, not like Myriam (who has a thyroid problem) but MORE than MGM, who was mainly lacking in muscle tone. No wonder "4M" (Marti's Mother Melanie Molitor) wouldn't keep this kid as a Coaching Client, and Timi's been having only modest success ova the past year or so!

BTW, this isn't bashing, as I'd LOVE 2C Somebody Suisse besides you-know-who become a force in the WTA, and I'd thought (after the 2 mentioned above basically disappeared) that Timi could be it. :(

Wrong, Timi (@ least when the pic was taken) was fat for an aspiring professional tennis player! And if I have a "real problem" about it, so did Melanie Molitor, as I mentioned above. In the pic, she's "growing" a pot belly worthy of Magui Serna.

Girls who become anorectic are generally like Dani, who was slim to begin with in 2002, then "went of the deep end" in 2003. (Fortunately, she recovered from the stick figure look of 2 years ago, though her game hasn't on any consistent basis).

Duh, she chose a profession where one performs in public! And as stated in my first post after that pic, I was hoping (especially after Myriam and MGM were "abducted by space aliens" or something) that Timi would displace the Cuckoo Clock as the top Suisse female by mid or late '06.

Thank goodness for balanced posters like Emerald, who don't have your infantile "blame the messenger" attitude. (I hope Steffy is right, and she's slimmed down since then). BTW, make sure you also blame East Players for taking a pic of Timi's (former, I hope) "beer belly".

This is true. Keep in mind though, that we're talking about being fit enough to compete in 2 hour matches on courts where the actual temperature in the afternoon sun may be 40 degreees C, the same as 104 F. (Remember that official temperaturess on weather.com, etc. are measured in the shade).

So having a normal body composition may leave a player worn out by the 3rd set. Here's an actual example, where it wasn't even broiling hot. Claudine (who's "neither fat nor super fit") Played Patty (who's much fitter, though older) @ AI '04. They split 6-4's, then Patty Peppered a pooped Schaul 6-1 in the 3rd.

Yes that's true. Timea is in Fed Cup team against Austria this week and it's outdoor on red clay so she might have real test of physical fitness there. It's Timea and Casanova playing singles matchs.

I'm know something about the SUI Fed Cup situation. Manu was pissed about being kept on the bench (even for dubs) in last year's spring match, so they could Play Patty, and basically told them "No thanks" re. the future.

As you may know, MGM has never played any ITF related stuff for SUI, due to her father's (12 year?) "Cold War" with their Fed ova not getting money for training, as the Casanova's (inc. little Daniela) did.

Then the Peppermint Puzzle turned her back on them, so its just Myriam and Timi to play all 5 matches. (They have an emergency reserve player, I forget who). So yeah, it'll be interesting 2C if stamina becomes a factor.

Well they will maybe regret saying that to Manu now looking at the team. The other players are Gaelle Widmer & Stefanie Vogele :o:o Austria is not a good team either so they might even win it somehow.
Myriam looked in very bad shape during the last Fed Cup matches and got beat 6-0,6-0 :o:o
Patty should have played :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Patty Predictably does what Hofmann she wants. (So do many other players, she usually doesn't even pretend that she needs a reason). ;) I think Stefanie might have been the backup last year, too. And I wonder if Gaelle is related to Mario Widmer, the (13 years now?) boyfriend of "4M" (Marti's Mother Melanie Molitor).

Timea lost to Paszek 6-3,6-3 :(:(
Paszek is just 14 & has only played 1 tournament on tour in her career and that was $10,000 challenger in March :o:o

Vogele at least did better against Meusberger who has a lot more experience.

So Myriam didn't play singles?

Anyway, maybe Timi was injured. I mean, she had a number of close matches last year with Misa Krajicek, though only winning once, so she has more talent than this result would indicate.

If she did play hurt, along with Myriam not being able to go (and MGM still out, though her father finally resolved his differences with the SUI Fed) I think the blame falls squarely on Patty & Rainer. (Manu had a valid excuse not to play IMO, after she was double-crossed last year). Too bad Marti didn't fill in, rather than play WTT!

I was in Lausanne for the Fed Cup and I saw the first match of Timi. Not a good one  She was abble to win against Tamira Paszek but she lost...
Stefanie Vogele made a good match against Meusburger : but she had no experience of fed cup.
On Sunday Timi won against Meusburger and Myriam lost against Paszek.
Paszek was the girl of the week end. She played very very well!

Now Timi in on holidays and I know that she will not play on the US Open...

"Suisse Sources" say that some of the media there are pretty critical of Timi's attitude right now. It could be just a "teenage thing", or maybe she's pissed that her ex-coach (thru the SUI Fed) Zoltan Kuharszky is now the private coach of the far more accomplished Ana Ivanovic of SMO.

I hope she will be back for the end of the season
She made mistakes but she's a great tennis player
She must just grow a little bit
She's just 17 years. Of course differents players of her age make better results and taht gives her the pressure .
I think what happened during the fed cup is a good lesson for her
Now she needs to PLAY

Yes where is she? I always saw her as one of the biggest talents. Two years ago she was already in the top 200/300 and she had already won a 25k and 50k. But this year she has done nothing.. only a final at a 25k.. and she has play barrely. She needs to make progress and play more tournaments!

Timea Bacsinszky d. (5)Andreja Klepac 64 46 63 second set let down - but she regrouped in the third.
next one will be very tricky against Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez who's way better than her ranking applies.

Congratulations to Timea on a memorable tournament. She is on her way.

From the Zurich Open website:

Bacsinszky’s dream run comes to an end
The dream run at the Zurich Open of Switzerland’s 17-year-old hope Timea Bacsinszky has come to an end – at the hands of the woman who won Wimbledon as a 17-year-old. After three wins in the qualifying tournament and two in the main draw, Bacsinszky finally met her match in the No 2 seed and newly crowned US Open champion, Maria Sharapova. Bacsinszky battled well in her 6-4 6-3 defeat, coming back from 1-4 down in the second set to narrow the gap to 3-4, before Sharapova’s greater experience decided the outcome.

“I’d seen her a lot on television,” Bacsinszky said after the match, “so she’s been a lot in my head, in fact I can say I’ve sort of idolised her, so it was great to be on the same court as her. In the end I think her experience in the crucial moments made the difference, but I’ll learn from this week.”

Yet after the adulation of an adoring crowd that was chanting her name, Bacsinszky comes down to earth later this evening. After discharging all her media obligations at the Zurich Open, she takes the overnight train to Bratislava, where she has to play in the qualifying event for the $75,000 tournament there. Asked whether she couldn’t fly, she replied: “Well I’ve missed the last flight that would get me there on time, except for a couple of flights which were super super super expensive. But whether I fly or go by train I won’t have any time to practise – I’ll just arrive at the tournament, have my five minutes warming up, and play my first match. But that’s OK.”

“She played pretty well,” said Sharapova about Bacsinszky, “she served quite big on her second serves, but when I had the opportunity I did well to put some pressure on her. My game is an improvement from yesterday, and as I play more and get more match-tough, I think I’ll get better.”
