I don't know about this match's quality, but great fight from Timea, and she keeps improving :)
From those stats, all I can say is that or they're both were serving extremly well in the first 2 sets, or they couldn't put a return on court, becuase most of the match they held their serves pretty easily..
Timea was broken only once in the first set (at 4 all), didn't broken at all in the 2nd (broke Patty at 5:4) and ion the 3rd I guess Patty was too much, or Timea was pretty tierd.
Either way, nice fight Timea and good luck in doubles with Alize :hearts:

but in the third, Timea didn't start well and then was too much exhausted :sad:

I think Timea keeps improving but she has to work on her fitness and her foerhand, because it's not a so good weapon like her backhand.

Then had triple break point and couldn't convert. Then, in the tiebreaker, she was serving at 5-1.... and double faulted. :( She got frustrated and didn't get another point.

With only about 50 fans watching this match (could this be any more embarassing? Why do they even have this tournament if people don't come?) I figured I would have a chance to talk to Timea afterward. But she was in no mood to talk to anyone. She was nice enough to sign an autograph but then moved on. As much as players should respond to the fans, I can't blame her on this one. She could have won this one and was upset about the way the match unfolded. So I can forgive a 19-year old for not being talkative after a match like that.

With all that said, Timea displayed all that makes her a likeable player. She wears her heart on her sleeve. If she makes a mistake, she throws up her arms. If she gets a good point, she shrieks. And she can play. Last year, she came to New York ranked #98 but she is about 40 spots higher now. If she can get a couple of wins next week, New Yorkers will surely appreciate this up and coming player.

Just a few quick points from this match:

-Timea was down 2 breaks in the first set but kept her composure. That was a good sign.

-Razzano took a long injury time out after Timea broke back twice. Once again, this did not shake Timea at all.

-Timea was mixing up the pace nicely throughout the match.

-The match was played on an outer court in front of a small crowd. Of the fans who were there, quite a few were wearing Swiss T-shirts.

-Funniest moment: After Timea won, a bunch of kids went over for her autograph and Timea was happy to sign them all. One young boy, yelled, "I want you to sign my hat and shirt!" Timea replied, "you forgot to say 'please!'"

But Safina, assuming she beats Vinci, will be a tall order.

No, Timea was recovering from some knee treatments she had during late 2008. She doesn't feel ready to play AO because the knee always needs some treatment.
She started to train few weeks ago and will beginn 2009 with the Fed Cup against Germany (http://www.mytennis.ch/fedcup/pages/index.cfm?dom=7&frub=1001&id=9394)!
