To me, this sounded like a typical slow start for Chanda. She hasn't played since Fed Cup on July 20 and was given a bye, so her losing the first set really isn't much of a surprise here.

Poor Dokic. How many ranking points will she lose here?

Congratulations, Chanda! :D :D An article said this was her first time in the quarterfinals after nine entries! Chanda showed a great deal of preserverance and self belief to get there.

Good effort to win the first set, Jelena. Keep working on your game, fitness, and mental toughness. Don't give up! :)

Well, Jelena can take a lot from this match. When she went down a second break to 4-1 in the third, not too long ago she would have completely folded for a 6-1 set loss. Instead, she hung in there until the end. That sort of fighting will pay off for her in the long run.

this is very sad. whata meltdown. you cannot win the first set 6-1 and proceed to lose unless ur name is jelena dokic. :(

i was really hoping shed atleast get thru this match...even tho it was close this must be taking its toll on her confidence!

Here's something to note:

can't think of others, but many players have won the first at 6-1 and lost the match
