Do any of you guys think that Venus has a really good volly. I do feel she vollyes better then Kim, Serena,Jen and Lindsey . And if she got more conifendents in that kind of play she could really devlop that kind of tacktic in all her matches.

She's got alot of potential- in fact, I'd go so far as to say if she ever makes the decision to serve-and-volley all the time- no one would beat her- sister Serena included.

I don't know if i'd go that far. But I will say that if she came forward more often she'd turn the tide against Serena. From what I saw Venus' failure to come forward when the situation warrented was the big reason why she lost the A.O. Final.

I was lucky enough to be in Melbourne on vacation, and saw that match (closed roof- 115 degrees outside that day). I knew Serena was going to win as soon as the second set was finished- she gets this look on her face of absolute dominance that's eerie sometimes...

Venus needs to come into net. She would have won a few more grand slams, if she did. Her fed cup play was phenomenal from what I saw. She came in, a lot.

I don't remember but didn't Venus serve and volley her way to her first grand slam. Some article said she did in the first week.

I have mixed emotions about 99% of her game, however, her SWINGING VOLLEY redefined the game of Tennis! What a shot! I mean, a swinging volley, of the back hand? Unbelievable!

Um Andre and Monica, and Mary Pierce all owned that shot before Venus came along.

Venus has a great swing volley. Monica has lost the confidence to really go for hers everytime it's available. Hingis also had great swing volleys.

When will someone come along and actually teach these girls how to volley? The swinging volley is one of the lowest percentage plays out there- it only works because nearly all the girls are baseline bashers and they were never taught to punch a volley. I MISS JANA NOVOTNA!!!

Venus' vollies are the best in the game. Only a few players currently on tour are better (Suarez, Ruano-Pascual, Kournikova, Raymond).

If she came into net, she would be unbeatble...if she was healthy

A few more players than that have better volleys than Venus:

Martina Navratilova (hands down)
Lisa Raymond
Renae Stubbs
Ai Sugiyama to name just a few

That may well be a good idea for Venus. I was really impressed by her range at the net during her match against Lindsay. She sure can stand to go to the net more, but I think that Serena will kill her with her passing shots, if Venus only played serve and volley all the time.

Carling Bassett made that shot popular in the 80's, sorry bud.

Venus has nice volleys when she ever goes to net, especially in tense situations IMO. If doubles players (current) were included she might make the top 10, but I'm nto sure.

And they're just racking up the singles titles. Of course dubs. specialist have better volleys.

Her swing volleys are fantatstic.
Her traditional volleys are good but she needs more consistency to be great.

If her coaches were smart they would have her work on her overall net game and straighten that forehand and second serve out. But we know how eager top players are to work on their flaws.

Venus ahs every shot to be dominating...she just misses the will to construct on these shots...but that will will come back soon...Im sure of that..

Go Venus!!!!

Venus is good, and those swing volleys are sick. I try to emulate them. Live my life through them, etc. ;)

I seriously think that Kournikova should get healthy, get a good doubles partner and focus on winning doubles tournaments. If she works on that serve, stay healthy she could at least get a few Grand Slams IMO. If she were to get a solid dubs partner that would leave them with 1 and a half heads...
