Capriati's last 4 tournament wins (including 3 grand slams) had come with a win over Hingis (somewhere along the way). Her 2002 Australian Open victory possibly attributed to the retirement of Hingis. Now that she's retired, Capriati cannot beat her on her way to a tournament win anymore. It's been 18 months since that win, and she's still without a tournament.

The curse of Hingis? Does Capriati NEED to beat Hingis to win a tournament?

Hmm not a tournament but right now I would say yes if the tourney is a slam. Currently her 1-9 record against the top ten is telling.

What the f*ck more does she need to do. She played a Kim that was playing her best tennis. In fact Kim always plays great at the Bank Of The West Classic. If you're gonna go on a JenCap bashing brigade, save it for when she actually plays like sh!t not for when she plays her heart out and gets beat by a quality player playing quality tennis.

Jennifer is simply stuck with her coach and standard of play. She needs new ideas from a new coach.

well atleast jennifer knows she can still mix it with the top 2 players in the world :) in her recent matches against serena and kim Jen has performed well above her rank.

what can she get from the losses? Firstly she definately knows her game is still good enough to beat the best. Secondly it will make her hungrier to win next time cos she is always so close and jenjen is definately not the complacent type.

The thing´s that she´s always so close yet so far away! That´s got to be frustrating to her!

Jennifer was lucky to have won those slams when she did- Graf had retired, and the Williams sisters and Davenport were either injured or playing well below form. She should count her 3 majors and be happy she didn't have to play any of the top players to win them (save a lackluster performance by Davenport in Australia). Jennifer is a hitter, but really never has been the best thinker out there...
