Hey Guys

I just bought my first car! I can't get my licence till October but I've been looking for a car for a couple of weeks and after some hard searching I bought the car yesterday.

So I would like to commemorate my first day as a proud owner of Mitsubishi FTO by asking you guys to describe your first cars. Also please feel free to tell me how great my car is ;)

Here are some pics of my new baby:

WOW!!! That's a beautiful car!!! :bounce: :bounce:

I wish that MY first car was that nice and sporty!! You better be careful driving that car around though because it looks like it goes very fast and smooth and you might have to control your speed or else it might be a day at traffic school for you!

My first car was my mother's used 1967 Ford Mustang. She really loved it and I was just excited to have a car. I saved up my money and bought a Honda Civic when I went to college. It got me around and gave me transportation, but it's nothing like this sporty car you have!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :bounce: :bounce:

This is what my first new car looked like, except mine was red. It was a 1978 Honda Civic and cost $4500 US when I bought it.

Wow Barrie! That's impressive.
Mine was a 96 Honda Civic and I must say, it didn't look much like its 19 year old predecessor!!!

I got my first car a year ago--it's an 02 Honda Civic. It's silver, and I  it to death. Someone bumped into my bumper the other day and I'm pissed. I didn't see who it was, but trust me, I will find them!

CKB you obviously know nothing about the Australian insurance system. First of all, the Mitsubishi FTO isn't a swish "sports car" type as you say. It's fairly cheap actually. And also, yes insurance is available to student drivers but at a very high cost. My parents have placed me as the third driver on the car which still costs quite a bit.

i mean't swish as in fast rather than expensive, bad choice of word, and yes i would imagine that in Australia a Japanese car would be very cheap, even more so than one in the US

in Japan they've got some kinda fucked up licencing system which makes it very expensive to own and maintain a ride that is more than three (i think) years old. Consequently the diminished loss on car values is horrendous and so they have a huge excess of unwanted cars and so they export them to the States and Europe and i would imagine to Australia in very large numbers

what yuo said about being the 3rd driver makes sense. But that means that the ride is registered in yuor parents name and not yuors. But that's cool, most of us owned our first ride in that manner

but yuo can see why i smelled a troll, but it's all good. It's a nice ride and i'm sure yuo're gonna have a lot of fun in it. The Car Key Boi salutes yuo! :wavey:

but i'm still gonna key the shit out it one day :D

the Car Key Boi always makes the kill

I've been driving for 8 years now... damn long time. Since I turned 16 in 1996. My first car was a 1989 Porsche 911... Too damn bad it wasn't a 1996 Porsche 911
Still it was a nice car, until I hydroplaned and crashed it... Now I just have a VW Passat.

Oh well, sports car will be back as soon as I can get a good enough job!

You Rich kids get it so easy (OK - not yours Barry_Dude, yours looks respectably naff for a first car).
I practically had to re-build mine, a Chrysler Sunbeam, from old bits - it was such a wreck but it was mine, ALL MINE!
Thats the way it should be though; it teaches you a lot about cars and allows you to get your first few bumps and scrapes out of the way before you move on to something nice.

I had a 96 Rover 214i for my 1st car, I had it for nearly 4 years until I changed it earlier this year for a 2000 Renault Megane Coupe.
