They are holding the second wild card for Asa Svensson in case she is able to play... if not it might go to Sofia Arvidsshit Arvidsson, #1 in the Nordic countries.

Good luck to: Hanna Nooni and Maria Wolfbrandt in qualies. :)

:wavey:

This tournament was first held last year, in Finland. Main sponsor (Nordea - bank) wants that this is held in circulation basic. Luckily they didn´t move this away, yet. But will start moving around Finland-Sweden-Norway-Denmark from next year. (Nordea operates in all these countries)

So great to see that C. Björnström got a qualification wild card. She is one of the most talented players in Finland. It would have been a shame to see an older player getting the wc.

Good luck to all Finnish players and to Maja!

I also wanted her to play in Helsinki  She would have had a great chance to gain a lot of points ( first Sopot and week later Helsinki) if she was given a WC here :fiery:

Why are you mad ?

Maybe she will win one or two matches in Pattaya.

I'm sure she will be tired after Sopot ( Players party, her boyfriend in the same hotel, her mother etc.).

Peppermint Patty is only there because Hofmann isn't eligible for a US visa since his fraud conviction in November. Much as I like her, an upset would pretty much serve Patty right for letting this criminal pull her strings. :(
Much as I like Ansley, I don't think she's capable of beating Patty in her current form. That's if she comes here.

The edit makes up part of the trivia question nobody answered re. what 2 of the 4 WC's above have in common. Karina, Ina, and Emma are 3 of the 4 original members of "Team Nordica", along with Asa (though I expect Sofia to replace her as the Swedish member). This is something funded by Nordea Bank, the event sponsor, to promote Scandinavian tennis. (Hey, Kaia speaks Finnish like most Estonians, let her challenge Emma for that spot)! ;)
