Monique's father has been diagnosed with stomach cancer and is believed to be in the latter stages of the disease.

Monique has asked me to communicate this to her fans and would like them to offer a prayer to her father in this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with you and your family Monique. Some harsh stuff is said about you on this board in particular, but I'm sure everyone wishes you the best at this worrying time.

Oh, that's really shitty. :( I can sympathise with her feelings right now. There's not much I can say to help her father, just cherish what time there is left.

I'm sorry to hear about this. :(

After watching Karolj Seles and his family coping with this same disease, it is devastating to hear that Monique also must go through such a traumatic experience with her own Dad, and at such a young age.

May God help Monique's Dad, and may He give the family the strength to cope.

Thank you for sharing this with us, Mark. Poor Monique. I wish she could contact Monica for advise.

I saw Monique's match at the last event she played in - Greenville.

She not only had a very bad cold, but also had shoulder and wrist problems....I think she's VERY injury prone.

She does have about a 4-5 support group with her, which sometimes can be a bit annoying. In fact, her family and Jonita Randolph's family (her 1r opponent) kept calling the umpire to calm each other down......it was comical :)
