Shes playing really good. Srebotnik is too. But some good stats from Venus and only 4 Unforced Errors and 1 double fault compared to 11 winners and 3 aces. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

That picture is priceless and that shot was out of this world for vee and the reaction even better! That reaction deserves a commercial!

also katerian is pretty good and has a strategy! I love her serve and volley tactics. Vee should do that more too.

Venus hit an awkward one handed back hand with slice...the ball was almost out of reach and with the flick of her wrist she makes something amazing happen....

To her/our shock the ball craftily stayed in... :bounce:

I'm so happy Venus serve is holding up. She only had 1 deuce game so far and has yet to face a breakpoint!

Also, positive stat, Venus had 10 UE's the whole match....negative stat, she was 48% on first serve, but positive stat...she Won 60% of her Second Serves.

She converted 4 or 9 break pts.
and 8 of 11 at net. Would love to see the net stat in the 20's and 30's. Oh, and 19 winners.

Why has Srebotnik(sp?) only won one match at Wimbledon(=)? Her grass court game is nice.

its funny, in that pic, I see the family resemblance to Serena.
usually I don't think they look anything alike, but that picture is quite 'serena-like' in a way..

anyway, can't wait to see the shot!

OMG that pic... = PRICELESS! I am hugging my vcr tape and I'm at work... I set my vcr to tape at 10 AM and I was right on the money and the match is right after Serena's 1R, damn I'm good!

I cannot wait to see that point... ROFL! GO VENUS!

that was a great shot.. loved her attitude. I remember 2001/2002 when Venus was winning fairly easily, Vee would accept her errors as part of the game but now she is expecting more from herself.

I liked Katrina's (?) game, I wish Venus would S + V

It was a solid win but there is still room for Venus to raise her game, I see that as a positive thing to look out for.

Actually I don't think that was a slice backhand. She hit it flat a la Henin or Mauresmo. That's what was so amazing about the shot. Plus the fact that she was running top speed at the time.

Venus played AMAZING tennis today, I also like the way she moved. She needs to keep growing with each match.

I can't wait to see her match vs Petrova.

 Venus' now "infamous shot" was shown on every sports news highlight all evening. It was also one of the "Royal Shots" of the day!!! Today, it seemed as if the "old" Venus was on Centre Court, and what a delight to have the "old" Venus back...!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

thanks for the pics and video... I could watch that shot all day... when I went home, I rewound that part on my tape at least 5 times... her reaction was greater than the shot... It made me smile! Great stuff, Venus!

first of all, that was some of the best tennis I have seen venus play all year long. and that one shot really turned it on for her. her forehand was awesome, and she seemed to have a lot of confidence in it.
I was thrilled to see her playing like that. it was great to see.

Actually I don't think that was a slice backhand. She hit it flat a la Henin or Mauresmo. That's what was so amazing about the shot. Plus the fact that she was running top speed at the time.

It was definitely not a slice. She hit that ball like she would hit any other ball, except with one hand. She didn't bring the racket from high to low, causing slice; she hit it from low to high, like she does 99% of the time, except with one hand.

And it was all over the news, especially here in NYC. They NEVER, and I mean NEVER, mention tennis unless there is a major upset, but they made sure they showed that point. :)
