a great champ, of course. i dont remember iva majoli ever being "hyped," so i think she went beyond expectations by winning a slam...

It's hard to tell. She made three GS semis last year, so obviously she didn't disintegrate. But being two inches taller is a non-trivial adjustment. It means bending your knees more on every shot to hit the ball with the same swings she used in 2004. Which in trun means more fatigue at the end of matches, unless she build her legs up. Of the choices given, the Capriati analogy seems likely the most accurate.

Is she ever going to be the best player on the tour? A lot of that depends on Vaidisova, Kuznetsova, Ivanovic, Karatantcheva....

Honestly I donít see the big deal with Maria; I mean sheís in the same league with Iva, Svetlana and Anastasia. Their all players who have won one slam and since havenít made it to another Grandslam Final. I think she willl have a decent tennis career, but nothing like Monica, Steffi, Serena, Venus, Jenn, Justine, and Hingis. It goes without saying that she will win more single titles, and be in more Grandslam finals, but the question is when she meet the some of the players I mention I think they are all just to good mentally to let her when again.

I think she's got a couple of slams in her. She's no Lindsay Davenport but she's definitely got the making of a great champion!!! :)
