5 out of 8 East-Asians in the MD managed to win the 1st rd. Not bad considering 2 of them lost to a fellow East-Asian.

The one I'm still bitter about is Saori's loss to Bovina, especially since she led 4-1 in the 3rd set, and had 3 match points at 5-3. Not forgetting that she had a set point in the 1st set... :fiery:

Ai struggled with her forehand today again.
The rain-delay worked well for her, she said... This is from a Japanese newspaper today...

"During the rain-delay, I could have some time to calm down and figure our what to do... this match was totally different from the 1R match where I had so many doubts. I was winning (the match) by heart today. I am getting used to playing on grass... so I am looking forward to the next match (against Dechy)." (rough translation)

It seems like Ai, lately, is becoming better to do an adjustment.
I hope her run keeps going!

Hi,

Just happen to having lunch at the condo, and
checked into watched the delayed recast of last
night- and they showed freaking women's matches?

I got to watch Dani vs Shinobu from 5-5 in the third
set, mind you they jumped a couple of times forward;
but it was an incredible emotional match. Amazing.
This match had all the tension, tears, regrets, joy, and
tennis to make it the best women's match of the event
so far. Such drama- and this is only round 2!!

Poor Daniela. She looked like such the tragic figure.

It was cute how Shinobu high-5'ed those kids and people
in the front row as she walked off court.

Yea Ai made too many UEs and she struggled on serve especially, it really can cause her problems sometimes. On the whole it was actually very high quality match but Kim was just too strong in all areas she is playing very well at the moment. She also made a bad start, I don't think she won a point until the fourth game. Maybe if she had started better it would have been close because Kim just gained momentum although Ai did play better in set two. Anyways, good to see Kim/Ai back on court winning the dubs and looking happy! :p :D
