Amanda Janes shouldn't have lost and it was only due to her silly unforced errors that she did :(
Sarah Borwell played well despite having her wrist strapped and only using a one-handed backhand, but Sharapova she makes loads of unnecessary noise it's unbelievable :fiery:
Lucie Ahl played well and if she does as well as she did today, tomorrow she should qualify :)

Also, Selima Sfar lost the first set 6-4 :(, Julie Pullin was drawing 2-2 in the first set and Emily Webley-Smith was losing 0-3 in set 1. I will be there tomorrow as well :) :)

Believe me you do not want to hear it!! I think she must do it on purpose, it was terrible! Sarah, in comparison was silent, and it doesn't help when she is playing on centre court in front of a few people  It is totally unnecessary and ridiculous!

Good Luck to Sarah in doubles :)

Good Luck to Sarah in doubles :)

I saw Maria at RG and her screaming/shouting/meowing/whatever is amazingly loud. It's not even when she hits the ball, it seems to be a follow-up? she seemed to reduce the volume when she started to get tired. But it is truly ridiculous, if she plans on making a living on tour I think she should think about stopping down, I can't imagine other players not saying anything about it. It's actually a bit scary.

Well played Julie and Lucie, shame for Emily though :(

I know what you all mean about Maria. Last year when I was at Wimbledon on the Centre Court, you could clearly hear someone who was really loud on one of the outside courts, that's how loud it was! Anyway went and watched Maria play, it is over the top, it's almost like she's shouting DIE when she hits the ball! :o

Caz
Jun 7th, 2003, 11:21 PM
Yeah, Maria is way over the top with her screams. Bea and I saw her playing Magui at RG. We entered the court just as playing was starting, so we had to spend the first 3 games sitting on the steps in the aisle, from where we couldn't *see* anything, all we could hear was the score and Maria screaming. It sounded like she was being tortured every time she hit the ball.

If she's going to become a top player, she's really going to have to do someting about all that noise.

Adriana Serra-Zanetti defeated Kelly Liggan 4-6,6-3,6-3. This was a very close match and either player could have won it! Kelly was 4-2 down in the first set but won 6-4 and at the end of the 2nd set she had to have an emergency time-out for her shoulder. When Kelly hits the ball she says "oi" and when Adriana hits it she screeches "eh" :)
Maria Sharapova led Christina Wheeler
6-3 5-3*(30-15)
This is when it started raining, same as yesterday for Maria, she was making totally unnecessary noises, although when she couldn't be bothered she just didn't! Christina wasn't playing badly but we didn't stop to see the end of this match. I guess Maria won though.
The doubles qualifying was cancelled for today

Autographs I collected:
Kelly Liggan (I'm putting her on my sigature, she's so nice :D)
Adriana Serra-Zanetti
Anne Keothavong :bounce: (who's wrist was strapped up)
Jane O'Donoghue :bounce:
Yulia Beygelzimer
