View Full Version : The tennis and sporting world must correct this

Jun 6th, 2003, 09:38 AM
What has been happening to the Williams in particular yesterday must be corrected by the Tennis world and by the sporting world.
Its wrong, its evil. It transcends tennis and even sport. When the WTA closes their eyes to it, they become accomplices. The umpires should have clear guide lines, even to stop a match if this stop of booing continues.
Paying for a ticket does not give anyone the right to abuse another - for whatever reason especially if you are innocent.
What we witnessed yesterday was not a sporting occasion. It was not about people wanting to see the best player win. It was about people just wanting to see Serena Williams lose - at all cost.
These sort of people do not care for talent, ability and hard work. They are only worried that a black girl would become so good at her sport. So they had to put an end to it.
This makes it a political issue needing to be handled by a political body greater than the WTA.

Great satire, All4Williams. :D That said, the crowd really was a bit over the top.

I don't know. The outfit wasn't that bad....

Yes, maybe but IF Serena had won the match, all Williams-fans wouldn't be crying now! They would say that the crowd was fantastic 'cause it motivated Serena to winn, with the crowd yelling lie that!
Come on get over it! The Williams-domination will soon be over!

I hope you remember that the Williams fans also criticised the Indian Wells crowd even though Serena won there.
Please do not put your words in our mouths.
