Maria has her hands full with Myriam. Actually that's an understatement. Myriam has Maria by about 50 pounds. And Myriam crushed Maria last week in the junior Australian hardcourt final. Poor Maria. She gets terrible draws. Just like Anna Kournikova. I just hope Maria can lift her game enough to A) avoid getting crushed, and B) Have a chance to win. Udachi Maria!

P.S. - Look for Vera to upset the #15 seed.

TBE, I do not know Tatiana Golovin  . How is she playing?

Tatiana is the youngest there, just turned 14 a week ago.

tall, slim, a good mover and hits the crap out of the ball.
Born in Moscow, now represents France and has been at Bolletieri's Academy.

She's definately one to watch in 2002 along with Sharapova but my 1st pick for one to watch is Vera Douchevina.

I'd make picks but I agree with basically everyone Eggy went with, though I am going to give Liu the benefit of the doubt and say she sneaks past Avants.

Maria Sharapova upset Myriam Casanova in straight sets 6-2 7-6(4). I admit I am very surprised by Maria's upset win over Myriam. Especially since Myriam hammered Maria last week, in the finals of the junior Australian hardcourt tournament.

Maria obviously learned from her brutal loss to Myriam last week. That shows that she's a smart player. And because she is so light, she's going to lack the power of the bigger junior girls. So, Maria is going to need to be a smart player.

I hope theboiledegg saw this match.

It looks like Maria is really going to be the real deal! Udachi Maria!

Just a little "jump" to the boys events : 3 French players in QF! :bounce: :bounce:

Hope they will get same results in men events in a few years time :) .

Marion won her first match today but she just lost her second one against Vera Douchevina 76 75.

How can they have her play two matches the same day and the second one so late :( :( .
