View Full Version : Daily review for Russian's girls fans !

May 25th, 2003, 06:23 PM
Hello guys,

Letís start it right now : as I have the chance to live in Paris and to go to Roland Garros everyday (thank you Nastya Myskina for the accreditation ;), Iíll try to give you a dily summary of the Russianís girls plays.

Today was a special day, for the kids and several asociations that collect money for them. So there were exhibitions matchs and trainings.

I first saw Elena L., who seems to be in a good shape. She played with a guy who seems to be Nastyaís boyfriend. He plays tennis really well also.
Then Elena D., who has a much better background strike than before, really impressive, with less lift and more risks. She played with Lina K. But I had to leave then.
Vera Z. is in great form too, thatís not uggly if we look at the recent results she got but it is always good to have a confirmation.
Svetlana K. didnít play really well against Capriaty: too many u.e.
Nadia P. didnít play but I talked to her and be ready to see her new hair cut: you gonna be amazed (very funny!). ;)

:( Some bad news now : I talked to Elena Dís mom and she said than Elena still feels pain in her arm and canít play totally free, without fear.
Lina still has difficulties with her knee.

Well, thatís all for today, tomorrow complete summary of Alyona L. and Myskina/Safina matchs.I will try to see Svetlana and Lina plays as well but donít promise because I also would like to se my favourites Federer, Agassi and Srichaphan. :worship:

Hope it will interest you,

Till then have a nice time.

Hi there,

Some precisions on what has been asked before the day starts:

For the pass, let's say that I got the chance to know Chesnokov's last coach very good and that she still has "contacts" in the tennis world... I also regularly talk with some girls and/or their parents, so it make it easier for me to get in.
Then, Lina, according to her mother, has a REALLY big problem with her knee. Doctors from around the world have examined her but nobody could tell exactly what was the cause of her pain. Let's hope it won't hurt her too much during the week.
Elena D. , once more according to her mother, will play with pain in her arm. She hasn't recovered completly but Elena couldn't let herself not playing here in her lovely Paris.
I don't know the player that played with Vera, sorry, but Vera was so overpowering her: it was impressive.

That's it... in a couple of hours will Elena L. match starts on court 1 : I will also watch Nastya/Dinara. I promise reports on at least these 2.

See you this evening, thanks for the support :)

May 26th, 2003, 07:23 AM

:) Nice news, altho what are Lina and Elena gona do??

May 26th, 2003, 08:03 PM
Hello everybody,

that was a nice warm day for us at the French, with great conditions to play tennis. Our girls had differents destinies: 3 passed the 1st round and 4 dropped out.

The 2 biggest disapointing looses are given to Elena L. and Svetlana.

The first never enterred completly in her match, doing too many unforced errors against a good player who made many variations, accelerating soon on some points and then simply cutting the ball until Elena makes the fault on the others. On top of that, Alyona hurt her ankle in the end of the 1st set as she was running on a stop-ball.

Svetlana hit really good the ball but she should have killed the match either at 5-5 in the 2nd as she came back from 2-5, or at 4-3 her serve in the 3d.They both could win this match, but Meghan's experience made finally the difference. Quite disappointing though.

Maria:sorry for her fans but it was the 1st time I saw her play and maybe the last: I never heard someone screaming like that!
I stayed for 3 games and gone. she lost in 2...Well, I'll support her when she'll preserve a litle more my ears. :p

The all russian match: Nastya/Dinara. Well, there was no match. 6/2 6/2 . The score speaks for itself: Nastya played PERFECTLY well :worship: . As well from a technical point of view than tactical. She amazed me as well as her oppenend. She played very decontracted and was breaking the rythm of the exchanges with some slow balls that Dinara 90% of the time put in the net. Respect to Nastya, great play. Dinara will have her time too, but according to me she still plays too stereotyped.

Lina K. : sorry I didn't se that match at all. Think I was at Kafelnikov's play or Agassi. She won and after all it is the most important thing,no?

Well, that's all for oday, tommorow will be complete reports on Dementieva and Petrova's matchs.

Until then best to all of you.

May 26th, 2003, 08:07 PM
Thanks again!! :)

May 26th, 2003, 08:09 PM

You're missing Elena B.

Much info is needed.

Why don't you write something about lovely Alina Jidkova ( She is sooo
beautiful-and talented).
--Is not she russian ?

Thanks. :)
And yes Alina is Russian.

May 28th, 2003, 08:40 AM
hi everybody, :wavey:

First I'd like to say that I can't watch each russian play! that's impossible because sometimes they play in the same time and sometimes I just want to look at my favourites men's player (Agassi, Kafel, Coria, Youzhny, Moya and many more). I try to do my best and I promise to go to see the most russian girls though you see I can't be everywhere.

Yesterday big match was Nadya's play. She didn't control until 3-4 0\40 in the first then did 9 in a row with very few u.e and many winners . Many 1st at 180 km\h and Monica admitted that Nadya was simply better on that match. Really impressed me after a slow start with no 1st serves. :bounce:

Vera contolled the game completly and only got a problem with focus in the 2nd set, as she thought the match was allready over after the 1st. She played at 70% of her power and we can say that it was an easy match, quite annoying though. :)

Bovina didn't play at her best but won and to my mind Golovin's play was interessing: we'll have to keep an eye on her in the following years. Near each game went to 40\30 or deuce, so it wasn't an easy match for Elena who hasn't many matchs under her though.

Dementieva... what a disaster... many U.E but her opponent played the match of her life. According to her Mom she was a little pertubated by the pain in her arm.
Positive: next year she can ONLY do better

Today I'll go on Myskina's match but don't promise for Lina as I 'll meet friends who can't access the central so i'll stay with them on "little" courts. But I supposed you'll see that match on TV so do the report yourself ok? :p

Have a nice day, here is the sun shinning... :lick:

May 28th, 2003, 12:38 PM
Thanks very much. :)
I hope Alyona can play a lot better next year.

May 28th, 2003, 12:44 PM
thanks :)

May 28th, 2003, 01:00 PM
hello! is true Elena Bovina was angry with her coach or family, after her match?

May 28th, 2003, 02:08 PM
Thanks. :)

May 30th, 2003, 06:09 PM
Hello everybody;

First I'd like to apology for not having written the last 2 days, but I was soooooooooo tired at the end of the day that i simply came back home and was even allmost falling asleep in the bus.

Well, let's try to remember the matchs I saw...

Nastya: played really unconstantly against Mandula and she seemed to be ill. the fact that she has important personnal problems is not to be neglected but it is not to be talked here. Let's say she got thoughts apart from tennis during this tournament.

Lina:as it was said, the crowd was REALLY awfull with her and she couldn't free herself from pression. Playing against Mauresmo is allready hard in normal time, but when you play against Mauresmo + over 10.000 people, then you can just throw your raquets and take a shower. Very though draw for her.

Bovina: didn't impress me at all. many u.e whereas she was controlling the first set (5-3) without playing at her best. She lost, more than her opponent won.

Vera: didn't play really well but won quite easily. Well, it is a good sign when a player isn't playing really well and still easily wins, no?

Nadya:clean, fast win. Talaja couldn't do anything. Two problem: she still has problems with hezr serve at the beggining of the play (it was the same against Seles)and there was a cloud of bees in a tree that really scared me.Fortunatly firemen came and saved me from an awful death :p
She was very solid from the groundlines and when 1st serve goes, she IS a top 20 player. Definetly. Big test tommorow against Irvin. Let's hope she doesn't allready think at an eventuall revenge against Capriati in 1/8. One match by one, Nadia !

Easy win today for Dokitrova who waited 30 minutes until the french "princess" and her friend come. Dokic was to leave as they come. Nadya and her were soooooo angry that they show a professionnal player must be on time at a mach. Good punition for Casatoli. :p

Then Lena and Alyona: despite the score (4/6, 4/6), i don't think they are a good double team because they were both 90% of the time at the baseline ! Well, according to me it couldn't work against players like Sugiyama and Clijsters. Good resistance though.

that's allmost all...

Let's wait until tommorow and report on Nadya's match and maybe the end of Vera's since they play at the same time... :(

Enjoy, :wavey:

May 30th, 2003, 06:13 PM

Vera, tighten up

May 30th, 2003, 06:22 PM
thanx Tarassik :) for everything :)

May 30th, 2003, 06:26 PM
Thanks again Tarassik :)

May 31st, 2003, 06:29 AM
Thank you again! :)
I think Alyona always stays at the baseline but Alyona and Lina can still be a good team.

Thanks for everything. :D
I'm surprised Jelena didn't leave earlier. After losing to Tina, she must have felt terrible having to wait half an hour the next day for a doubles match. Did she wear her track pants again?

Jun 3rd, 2003, 09:34 PM
Hello everybody,

First Iíd like to congratulate Nadejda for todayís great win. It was an awesome one because Veraís tactic (moonballs) was not that easy to counter. :bounce:
Anyway, Iím glad to see that Nadya will be fully fit for her semi and that she really doesnít fear to play against Kim.

As I believe you saw todayís match, I will mostly transcript some ďscoopsĒ I got from inside Roland Garros (that the kind of sentence that make you want to read isnít it?)

After the match, Glenn ( Nadyaís coach) decided to cancel her mixed doubleís play but SHE insisted to play it, in order to relax and also work on her serve. During that match she played really well but Harrhuis surprisly made a lot of mistake. Anyway they won it.

Vera had a litle problem after the play: that was the cause of a funny scene : you know, she had to pass through a dopping ďtestĒ, with a bottle, and as she couldnít relax, she was drinking bottles after bottles of water, running between restaurant and controlís room during an hour before finally accomplishing her ďmissionĒ. Well, you had to see her drinking that water by liters witout stopping.... :p
Then, her trainer said that she WONíT PLAY Wimbledon. Yes it sounds strange, but as Vera doesnít feel comfortable on grass, they decided that she better doesnít face the eventuallity of an early loss. And even stranger, they decided to make her play double qualies in order to get a smooth adaptation! What for a program!

What to say more... Nadya feels very confident and believe in her chances. Letís say best of luck to her for the end of the tournament,

Thank you.

Jun 3rd, 2003, 10:18 PM
OMG Vera is not playing Wimbledon? Pfff..., she's playing doubles qualies where?

Thanks Tarassik :)

Jun 3rd, 2003, 11:00 PM
Thanks again Tarassik ;)

Pity that Vera will skip Wimbly.

Jun 3rd, 2003, 11:14 PM
Vera is skipping Wimby?! Im confused!

Jun 4th, 2003, 01:48 AM
Thanks again bud!!!

Cheer for Nadia in semis!!! :)

Jun 4th, 2003, 03:30 AM
Vera's never played on grass, she skipped Wimbledon in juniors as well.

so that would mean Vera doesn't play Ordina Open either as it would make no sense.

really strange decision....... Vera should have entered Birmingham in order to gain some grass experience, she has to play one day. REALLY WEIRD
Vera and "passing water" LOL

anyway thanx Tarassik :)
glad to hear Nadya is looking good and confident :)

What's funny is that the idiots here believe you... while you haven't given one bit of factual evidence that you "know" the players/their mothers... and then you spout this out. :p

So this is a joke?? Cause Vera played Wimbledon last year...losing to Iva...im confused!! Grrraaaarrr!

Jun 4th, 2003, 04:20 AM
so will Vera play Wimbledon or not?

btw, Vera DID play it last year beating A. Serra Zanetti in the first round (3 and 2) and losing to Majoli in the second (6-7 2-6)....

Jun 4th, 2003, 04:29 AM
Good Vera, Good girl.

Why would I have invented such stories? Do you think I get extrem pleasure in disappointing every Vera's fan? I transcript what I heard from a conversation in Which Vera's coach participated. It may not be definitive, but that is what was said. Vera is to play Wimbledon double qualies in order to avoid an early loss in single. Today it is like that, it may change tomorrow.
The "idiots" are not because I really write what I heard from the mouth of players/their parents. You want proofs? I can't give you on the board. I am simply getting an accreditation from 2 years now and try to get informations from players that I know (Elena L., Elena D., Nastya...)/or that are friends of mine (Nadya).

Anyway, thank you other people for the support.

Jun 4th, 2003, 08:22 AM
thats strange

thanks for the news anyways :)
