Well done Marie! :) Great way to tough it out! :D
I found out on ESPN that Daniela Casanova has retired because of a foot injury.
Apparently Myriam had a similiar injury 2 years ago but fought through it.

looking at the stats i'm surprised marie won this match:
- 10 double faults
- 76 (!!!) unforced errors (47 winners)
- break points conversion: 9 of 20

she must improve immensly if she wants to have the slightest chance in her next match.

aaron, i read about daniela, too. it's really sad. i didn't know myriam had the same problems.

Zamboni
May 26th, 2003, 07:46 PM
omg those stats look horrible! I don't think I want to know Angie's stats :o

I'm sad for Angie but very happy for Marie of course :D And now on to the big match!!!

King Aaron
May 27th, 2003, 03:47 PM
Apparently the stats aren't that accurate. Someone said they count the forced errors as unforced errors as well. Anyhow good luck against Serena, Marie! :)

Yeah, it's really sad. I wonder if this will have an effect on Myriam?

Zamboni

I hope they counted the forced errors as unforced too! :o

hello you nice people! :wavey:

i read an article about the swiss players' performance at RG in a newspaper yesterday and marie was quoted as saying that she still suffers from that rib fracture she had in january and that she'd actually have to take some time off again, but that was a very hard decision during a time when there are 2 grand slams. hope it's not too bad

King Aaron
May 28th, 2003, 03:01 PM
Marie lost 6-3, 6-2.
I hope the rib problem isn't too bad. But if playing through the pain for 2 Grand Slams and then missing a lot of the season, I don't think it's going to be worth it.

*sigh........* well, it was possible.

is it true that tashkent doesn't take place this year? so marie won't be able to defend her title, which is cool with me, because this way she can get a proper preparation for wimbledon (if she's healthy) instead of playing a hardcourt event.

Jordan.

*new fan here*

:wavey:

Marie is VERY attractive! Love her raw game as well! :D ;)

:wavey: Jordan.
Yeah, Tashkent won't be next week. Is she playing straight after RG?

Zamboni
May 29th, 2003, 06:56 PM
I hope she takes the two weeks before Wimbledon off....she got 3 weeks rest then, maybe that helps for her rib fracture...
