Just wondering.
What is the last match Daniela has won convincingly ?GoDominique May 8th, 2003, 07:15 PM Just wondering. Mikey May 8th, 2003, 07:27 PM Define "Convincingly" Probably her 7-5 6-2 win over (Q)Morigami at Amelia Island would be my vote. Jarrett May 8th, 2003, 07:30 PM 7-5 6-2 over a qualifier is not "Convincingly" ;) kournikovafan13 May 8th, 2003, 07:30 PM No, Morigami had 4-2 in that set and Daniela struggled through most of it until late in the second set I would say her 6-2 6-3 win over Mandula in Indian Wells....so long ago MarcusRock May 8th, 2003, 07:31 PM Define "Convincingly" Probably her 7-5 6-2 win over (Q)Morigami at Amelia Island would be my vote.I was at that match. I wouldn't say that was "convincingly." Morigami should have won that first set. Either way, I remember it not being a great performance from Dani. Mikey May 8th, 2003, 08:16 PM I said define "convincingly" - looking at scorelines, that's the best one for a while. I didn't say I had any clue what I was talking about considering it was a little vague :p GoDominique May 8th, 2003, 08:19 PM Convincingly = without struggling, a straight set win which is never in doubt. Aerien May 9th, 2003, 03:11 AM Probably her 6-1 6-2(or was it 6-2 6-1? ) win over Magui Serna last year in the Fed Cup finals. Prudence May 9th, 2003, 03:17 AM She seems to be falling off the radar a bit. It's too bad; she's a very talented player and I thought she would be able to challenge the top players a bit more. xcrtbckhnd May 9th, 2003, 03:21 AM Hopman Cup 2003 AUS Group B SVK v ITA HC 02 Jan 2003 - 02 Jan 2003 Hard (I) R1 W Silvia FARINA ELIA (ITA) 6-4 6-3 Period W/L: 1 - 0 Sydney AUS WT 06 Jan 2003 - 11 Jan 2003 Hard (O) Entry: DA Seed: 4 32 B BYE 16 W Tamarine TANASUGARN (THA) 7-6(2) 6-1 QF L Lindsay DAVENPORT (USA) 4-6 6-3 6-7(3) Period W/L: 2 - 1 Australian Open AUS GS 13 Jan 2003 - 26 Jan 2003 Hard (O) Entry: DA Seed: 7 128 W Fabiola ZULUAGA (COL) 7-5 6-7(3) 6-4 64 W Adriana SERRA ZANETTI (ITA) 7-6(6) 7-6(3) 32 W Samantha STOSUR (AUS) 6-4 6-2 16 W Patty SCHNYDER (SUI) 7-5 6-3 QF L Venus WILLIAMS (USA) 4-6 3-6 Period W/L: 6 - 2 Paris FRA WT 03 Feb 2003 - 09 Feb 2003 Carpet (I) Entry: DA Seed: 2 32 B BYE 16 W Maja MATEVZIC (SLO) 6-3 6-3 QF L Elena DEMENTIEVA (RUS) 5-7 3-6 Period W/L: 7 - 3 Antwerp BEL WT 10 Feb 2003 - 16 Feb 2003 Carpet (I) Entry: DA Seed: 4 32 B BYE 16 W Els CALLENS (BEL) 5-7 6-4 6-3 QF W Nathalie DECHY (FRA) 7-6(4) 7-6(6) SF L Venus WILLIAMS (USA) 1-6 4-6 Period W/L: 9 - 4 Indian Wells USA WT 05 Mar 2003 - 16 Mar 2003 Hard (O) Entry: DA Seed: 3 128 B BYE 64 W Petra MANDULA (HUN) 6-2 6-3 32 W Katarina SREBOTNIK (SLO) 7-6(4) 6-2 16 L Amanda COETZER (RSA) 4-6 4-6 Period W/L: 11 - 5 Miami USA WT 19 Mar 2003 - 30 Mar 2003 Hard (O) Entry: DA Seed: 5 128 B BYE 64 L Alicia MOLIK (AUS) 6-2 5-7 0-6 Period W/L: 11 - 6 Charleston USA WT 07 Apr 2003 - 13 Apr 2003 Clay (O) Entry: DA Seed: 5 64 B BYE 32 W Tatiana PANOVA (RUS) 6-2 4-6 6-3 16 W Jill CRAYBAS (USA) 7-6(10) 6-3 QF L Ashley HARKLEROAD (USA) 2-6 1-6 Period W/L: 13 - 7 Amelia Island USA WT 14 Apr 2003 - 20 Apr 2003 Clay (O) Entry: DA Seed: 4 64 B BYE 32 W Akiko MORIGAMI (JPN) 7-5 6-2 16 W Alexandra STEVENSON (USA) 6-4 3-6 6-2 QF L Elena DEMENTIEVA (RUS) 0-6 1-6 Period W/L: 15 - 8 Fed Cup (WG-1R) GER World Group 16 GER v SVK 26 Apr 2003 - 27 Apr 2003 Clay (O) R2 W Marlene WEINGARTNER (GER) 2-6 7-6(5) 7-5 R3 W Anca BARNA (GER) 2-6 6-3 6-1 Period W/L: 17 - 8 Warsaw POL WT 28 Apr 2003 - 04 May 2003 Clay (O) Entry: DA Seed: 3 32 B BYE 16 L Fabiola ZULUAGA (COL) 2-6 4-6 Period W/L: 17 - 9 Berlin GER WT 05 May 2003 - 11 May 2003 Clay (O) Entry: DA Seed: 7 64 B BYE 32 W Barbara SCHETT (AUT) 6-3 4-6 6-3 Period Win/Loss: 18 - 9 No of tournaments played: 10 No of matches played: 27 I guess this one? Don't look back further at 2002 or it gets worse IMHO... I still think Daniela has a lot that she will do this year anyways. She will surprise us all. Gowza May 9th, 2003, 03:26 AM quite a lot of players have a bad year or a bad spell after their breakthrough year. clijsters had one the first half of last year although she had an injury for most of that so it's debateable. henin also had some troubles last year. dementieva had this problem. comeback at the us open and if she is still having the same trouble then we can say she is falling off the radar. ksgyh May 9th, 2003, 03:50 AM I love Dani, but this bad? Her weight problem shouldn't be causing her to have tight tight matches with qualifiers, when she is technically ranked in the top 10. This isn't men's tennis. That kind of upset isn't supposed to happen. A loss to a top 50 player, fine, but how many of them has it been this year? Come on, Dani, start from scratch. What is so sad is that the poor girl is working so hard on so many things at once - no one can possibly be supergirl. I don't expect her to even give Kim a challenge tomorrow, but if she can hang in there to boost some confidence, perhaps things are beginning to look up. | |
