Mandy is in my opinion the biggest talent Luxemburg has produced so far!
Nothing against Anne and Claudine but I think Mandy has the opportunity to develop into a real good player maybe even a top ten player!I hope she will develop in future as she did in the past and another win over a top ten player would really give her confidence!

Poland i hope can get by Ireland and grab another win under their belt. The key tie will be vs. Hungary. I hope struggling Nederlands can get by Britain, but it was a lousy singles effort for them vs. Hungary. They did not have oremans or boogert play but just hopmans and some no name...how strange.

Day two of the Fed Cup Europe/Africa Qualifying was disrupted by torrential rain that flooded courts from mid afternoon onwards. Only two ties were completed, Great Britain pushing out Poland 2-1 and Hungary outlasted Netherlands also 2-1. D deciding doubles rubber was needed to separate Great Britain versus Poland after each country took a singles rubber apiece. The British managed to secure their place at the top of round robin Group D after closing out the doubles rubber in two closely contested sets 64 76(5).

In other ties Myriam Casanova was on the brink of giving Switzerland a 2-0 lead over Luxembourg when the heavens opened. The match will resume tomorrow when Casanova will be hoping to convert the one break point that she needs for victory, the current score line 76(2) 52 15-40. South Africa has an unassailable lead over Romania after Chanelle Scheepers and Amanda Coetzer took both singles rubbers. Ukraine’s 1-0 lead over Denmark may be short lived as the Danish no. 1, Eva Dyrberg is poised to take the match into a deciding doubles, overnight she leads Elena Tatarkova 26 63 3-0. Nadejda Ostrovskaya ousted Margit Ruutel 63 62 to give Belarus the edge over Estonia. Tatiana Poutchek has a 5-3 lead over Maret Ani in the battle of the no. 1’s, the match will resume on 11am tomorrow.
