i understand that is isn't the most well-known russian and her results haven't been that great so far, but she is a pretty good player and is starting to play a bit more on the challenger circuit. everytime i see her in a tournament i want to come into the russian roulette and wish her good luck but there isn't a thread for her (that i can see). so, anyone else think she should have a thread (not a whole forum but i think she should have a thread like this)?

TheBoiledEgg
Apr 13th, 2003, 09:30 AM
she's just too inconsistent
plays the wrong shot at the wrong time.
needs to work on that.
she frustrates me, she should be doing alot better than she has.

go Nina :)

since this thread was last seen, she's won 2 10k's  :worship:

Nina's had a pretty good 2004, shown alot of improvement this yr

she's gonna crack top 300 when next ranks come out, and not much to defend for rest of yr

she got a Special Exempt (SE) for making Taranto final, meaning no qualies for her in Catania, but she plays Virginie Razzano, #1 seed in r1.

good luck Nina ;)

Nina is two days younger than Sveta. She turns 19 on June 28. It's not easy at that age.
It's expensive to travel, if you're not a child prodigy.

She's on the Moscow 25 K.

Possibly the first 3/4 seeds are going to withdraw. A few players what's on the cards will withdraw from the US-Open Main Draw/Qual. There's a chance for Nina and Ekaterina to have a very good tournament. If both are on the opposite half of draw and reach the final. Unless first round exits one after another the Aus-Open Qual are guaranteed

This is her draw
5-Ekaterina Bychkova RUS vs WC Ekaterina Kosminskaya RUS
Tina Schiechtl AUT vs Melanie Marois CAN
q-Olena Antypina UKR vs Maria Goloviznina RUS

Bad draw for the Russians and this draw I am afraid does't bring the Russian players closer to the Aus-Open Qual top 250/500 ect. Hopefully one will take adv. from this terrible draw

As for Nina very good chance to play the GS-Qual. Think for Nina it's very important to get some grass under your belt before Wimbly. And of course to participate in the American Summer Circuit bef. US-Open. The surface of the US-Open should suit her. After the US-Open to focus on the indoor season. Another option is to focus on the Asian tour too. One good illustration to get your ranks up were from Z. Linetskaya in 2004. Zhenya didn't play a single tournament on Red Clay.

For the rest of the season hope she plays the KC-Qual. At least she sells tickets. The more Russians in KC the more tickets will be sold. Last years mistakes shouldn't be repeated. Lowerranked hometown players sell more tickets than Patty. Hopefully no special treatment/no forcing players/go by ranking at this years KC. $25,000 Dnepropetrovsk where Nina is 2nd seed. The US-Open entries are on the 17th of July. Once again way too early :o The Challenger is played on clay. Think best for Nina going for the Moscow 25 K. instead of US-Open Qualies. Don't mind Nina plays on clay till Moscow 25K, but then Nina shouldn't go for the US-Open Qual. For Moscow, undoubtedly Nina's the potential to win it. Don't think Alisa/Vaslisa/Nastya P. will be participating. So it's good a chance for Nina to at least improve your ranking. No points to defend from last year 1rd exit US-open and 1st round exit at the other 25 K. in Russia. Good luck Nina. :)

LAPUSHCHENKOVA, Anna vs LYUBTSOVA, Oxana
BONDARENKO, Kateryna vs CHALOVA, Elena
POUTCHEK, Tatiana vs (8)VOSKOBOEVA, Galina

Of course difficult draw first round vs. Woerle good chance to survive first Qual round. Focus concentrate just avoid the off-day. Would be glad Nina makes second Qual round hopefully vs. Bychkova. Though vs. Bychkova talent wise Katya's the edge. Nina has to rely Katya and her show what they're made of in first round then Nina has to rely on Katya not playing her best. My pick Nina makes second round Qual unfortunately no further. Good luck Nina in your hometown.

As long as Nina sees the back of injuries things only can get better. Pretty sure Nina will do better than 1 rounds exits very soon.
