Think that Justine can beat Serena tomorrow? I doubt it. Serena is going to finish her off in two sets; clay court specialist or not.

I really, really can't envision her beating Serena tomorrow.

i agree leslie (for once ;))....serena seems beyond unbeatable right now...

... though, if there's one single player who proved to be able to beat Serena in big tournaments on clay, that must be Justine Henin-Hardenne!

Yeah, Serena seems unstoppable, but if someone is to stop her during the clay season, I can only see my Juju doing it ;)

Although I like Justine, Serena is so much better. Serena won Roland Garros last year, she is also damn good on clay.

I think Serena will win, Lindsay said the courts were playing quicker than red clay. Serena will win 7-5, 6-4.

Maybe. Serena is favourite against everyone she plays, so also against Justine, but if we don't believe it's possible then their is not much fun anymore.

 You may be right about that "turt", however, that was last year and Serena is playing far better "now" than she was "then"!!! We'll have to wait and see, but, given Serena's present form, I have to put my money on her to win tomorrow. :) :) :) :)

Money on Serena although Justine could sneak a set. Lindsay was close today, and I think Justine has an effective power clay-court game to match Serena....

and she moves damn well too! :)

Its all about the sliding...:)

Nothing is impossible. I don't think it's very likely that Justine will win tomorrow, but you never know. She's a very good clay court player (although I'm not sure I would call a Wimbledon finalist a clay-court specialist). She did very well against Serena last spring, and she's playing better now than she was then, too. Serena looked very good today, but she struggled to close things out. We'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

If it goes three sets..Serena will win (she will in 2 as well)..IMO. If Justine wins, the set that Serena wins will be an easy win. The set(s) that Justine win will be very close. Serena is such a tough fighter that she will not let go of the match easily.

Apr 13th, 2003, 12:33 AM
If Serena plays like she did that first set
6-1 6-2
If Serena plays like she did that second set
7-5 6-4

Either way, Serena in straights, Justine is extremely talented, but Serena is just too good right now

Serena will win if she played like she did today, but hey, this is a whole new ball game!
Still I say Serena 76(4) 64

If we just looked at the facts, Serena wins. But every day is a new day, and anything can happen. I guess i give Justine a shot. I think she'll be more competitive than Lindsay was. hope she wins, but I'm not banking on it.

Since me and Naldo were the only two to pick H-H we must stick together and send her good luck mantras

Repeat after me Juju-even in your sleep tonight.

Everyone is beatable, you've beaten Rena before, it's repeatable!
Better yet hey, the match is on clay!
Whack that backhand enough and it might be your day:)

Justine has the best chance of anyone on clay. She will force Serena to be patient, which Rena still struggles with. If Justine serves as well as she did against Mary and Ashes...she has a good chance to make it close...

I think Serena will have a much easier time with Henin than Lindsay.

Henin doesn't get enough balls back to beat Serena. She'll probably make more errors than Serena, and Serena will make more winners than Justine.

6/3 6/2 All Serena Williams.:)

Of course Justine is a great clay courter, but is beatable on that surface.

when serena is on the top of her game I am pretty sure not a single player on the tour can beat het on any surface.... I am still keeping my hopes up, if has a little bit of an offday Justine is the ideal player to give serean her first loss of the year

Robbie.
Apr 13th, 2003, 07:49 AM
Well Justine is clearly the second best clay court player on tour, so if she can't do it, who can?

This type of talk is superstitious to me...but no...I don't think Justine will defeat Serena. Can't say she doesn't have a chance, cuz there's always that slight possibility :p

But yeah, really I think Justine could make it a descent match. Justine needs to work on confidence factor against top players, though. She's easily intimidated, and playing a Serena "21-0" Williams, it'll probably intimidate Justine even more.

Guess we'll find out tomorrow ;)

Justine is going to shrivel up like a prune when she gets across the net from Serena. Look what happened to her when she faced Venus last year at amelia Island. Justine has no confidence and I do believe it is red clay that she is better on. Serena knows what she has to do against Justine and that is not much. All Serena has to do is look at her and Justine is done. Anyway I wish both of them luck and may the best player win today.

You probably would win if we did. I am not a violent person and I have never had a fight in my entire life not even as a little kid. I am not confrontational. However, I would express how I feel in a very professional manner face to face behind close doors.

Don't worry it's checked. As I said before congrats to Justine I did not think she could do it, but she did. However, the next time they meet it will be a different ball game. Remember kim beating Serena at the year end championship remember what happened the next two times they met? The next time Serena and Justine meet it will be all Serena and I will bet my house on that. Keith, you can save this post. Maybe Jen could take a lesson from Justine.
