I play a lot. I played twice this week. with the same guy. i won 6-2, 7-6(4). I could've have won easier but when I am leading in a match i try different things,this time I started to serve -volley.

I'm 14-0 so far in first singles for high school (my team is also undefeated). i won a couple of double bagels, but i also did get streched to 3 sets once (i think i won 6-3 or 6-4). or toughest match is next week and then we are off to districts, regionals, and (if we win those two) states

3-6
6-2
6-0
3-6 (today)

i havent had time to play 3 setters lately.

The two losses were to the same guy who plays my style so its a hard person to overcome for me. He has a slice bh like me which can really annoy ;)

Well I'm on my high school team, I play #4 varsity, but it's difficult because I'm a freshman and the competition is high. I'm 6-7 this season (not bad) and my team barely missed out on regionals lol

but this week was good, i've gone 3/3 in singles

6-3 6-1
6-3 6-1
6-2 2-6 7-6(6) :eek:

The first two matches were against weak opponents who I was supposed to beat easily, but the third I played really good against a great player, the tiebreak wasn't pretty but i was pleased to get through

A few weeks ago, I won a match 3/6 6/2 7/5.
My opponent was leading 5/1 in the 3rd set, then 5/4 with 2 match points! I saved them after two long rallies... PHEW!
That was a really good win for me! (but not for him I presume!)

By the way, I often play three sets: I often lose the first set because I always begin the matches very poorly... :p

Last night, I played probably the best match of my life, or at least the best match in a year. I beat a friend of mine who has beaten me before many times. I've never beaten him, but we have split sets before.

I absolutely trashed him 61, 61. I was in the zone and it was a great match for me! I still can't believe how well I played!

Yesterday I played my brother and won 6-0, 4-6, 6-4...I actually led 6-0, 3-1 until my brother picked up his game..but I made the most common mistake I guess a sibling does to another...at 3-1 I let up my game a little bit for him to get back in the match, little did I know he became more confident and since 4-4 in the 2nd I actually tried to win the match but it was hard as heck! lol and I almost lost. I also led 3-1 in the 3rd..grr I guess Im not gonna be playing my brother again :D

I was leading against my brother (he is 1,5 years older and a lot taller but he doesn't play so much tennis as me) 3-0, and I had a breakpoint to go 4-0 and he just stopped saying, "you won 6-0" :rolleyes: :fiery:.
Now I always win if I play against him because I play a lot more but it's silly he quited, sometimes I only win 6-4 or 7-5 and if I could have won 6-0 this time, that would have been good for my confidence but now I don't know how the match would have ended. :(

I have a bad day over the weekend though.... :sad:

Playing in a club championship and I lost all four sets against the other four opponents in my group!!

2-6
2-6
0-6
1-6

Well, I didn't expect much before I played anyway.... coz' I know I am not at the same level as the other four as I only played for 1 year.... This loss tells me how much improvements I need to make in order to put up a challenge to the others!!!

I am going to practice more and hopefully take more advise from the good players to improve my tennis!! ;)

It's just odd the match went to a tiebreak if you served that well. :)

It's not odd at all for me...

I'm 6'2 with a giant serve, great volley game... but I'm slow as molasses, with a horrible backhand that I struggle to even get in the court. Thus, I always hold, and never break versus any level of player.

That's not my worst... In high school, I served 58 aces in a match, had 11 in one game, which has to be some sort of record... and lost 6-7, 7-6, 6-7. :p

That means you just smack the ball down the court, and intends the ball never come back, if not, goodbye :wavey:

I rarely ever win :sad: I play with men...so you can understand

There is one girl I play with that I always beat, because I have better tactics and I hit the ball harder, but she is more technically sound than me...I love to play her, its the only time I get to taste victory :D

Basically... or I hope I get a weak return that I can volley away easily. Then, I just hope my long reach at net gets me the point... that's where I like playing "pushers" who can't pass me. :)

My high in aces in a match is 63 actually... but that was against a Freshman who was like 4 feet tall, and just let the ball go by her most of the time. :p

Had to retire at 3-2 up yesterday (was down 0-2)

He served at 0-15 in the 6th game, played a drop shot - and I ran for it. But between running forward and stretching for the ball, I fell forward. HARD. My wind was totally out, I had this terrible pain in my side, and blood on my face. Eventually got home (a friend had to drive me - just touching the gear lever was painful - and I STRUGGLED to get in and out of the car) - my body had started to cool down, so the pain just became worse. Went to the doctor (at about 20:00) he gave me pain pills and I had to go for x-rays this morning.

X-rays didn't show that any ribs were fractured, but it's still very sore, so we are suspecting a bit of bruising - need to take my pills now for 2 weeks for the pain as the ribs and muscles recover. Have marks on my knee, elbow and 3 on my face (rememebr, I landed face first).

So I suppose I'll be out of action for a week or two (at least I'll be able to go to graduation next week!)

My results of 2003:

* My elder brother Tim (21) beat me 6-3 6-0
* then 6-1 6-1
* then 6-2 6-4
* then 6-4 6-2
* I beat my cousin (17) 7-5 6-0
* I lost to a good friend (who's one of the best athletes of my school + 1.93m, 20 cm taller than me :o) 6-1 2-6 6-4 :) [last year he beat me 6-4 6-2]
* I lost to my elder bro 7-6 (3) 6-2 (my best match ever against him, I even had setpoints :sad: )
* This morning I beat my 12yo bro 6-4 6-3! Probably our best match ever, quality wise :)

So I'm 2-6 this year. The thing is, even tho I had more wins in the previous years, I'm playing better than ever! I just play better opponents now...

My most memorable juniour match ever, was one that I won 61 67 64. The problem was I was leading 61 51, and then 52 in the 3rd. I won the match on my 21st match point!!!!!!!!! :bounce:

Boy, did I choke. Luckily for me, he finally dumped an easy backhand in the net, because I was soooo determined not to lose, yet I just couldn't hit the ball on match point.

Unfortunately, he beat me in all 3 of our subsequent matches, usually in finals, but I will always have the memory of winning that 3 hour epic. :)

I just played my first "full" match of 2003!

I won it 7-5 4-6 6-4!!! It was great! My opponent is 16 years old, he has loads of talent and also luck on the big points ;)

He was up 4-3 in the first set with a break, but I managed to lead 5-4 and then 6-5 before taking that set!

After I was up 4*-2 in the second set, there I scored two aces in the middle, by then, I haven't manage to put one first service in the limits anymore :eek: So, I got frustrated and he took 4 games in a row and the set 6-4!

Then, without any first services, I had to fight for every points and that boy was coming to the net and attacking, so my tactic (as I was playing well) to play the security without attacking would have worked as he came always to the net! So we were 3-1 for me then he broke back, then 4-2 for me then he broke back then we were 4-4 and I could manage to held my service game to lead 5-4! He had to serve to stay in the match, he was 40-15 up but the key point of that game was my backhand drive volley passing shot to come back at at 40-30, then he double-faulted and after that I had my first match point saved that he saved with a one-handed backhand crosscourt and then I told myself to hit as flat as I can, so on his second service at deuce I hit a flat backhand return winner to have my second match point and then, he landed a forehand 10 cm long to let me win the match!!

I was so happy after that!
