We all know Lindsay can beat Serena she definatly showed that last time they played, but she will need to be more consistant if she is to beat Serena then she was against Vera.

Serena has won 8 or 9 times they have played . Linds has olny won 2. The last win she had over Serena came in 2000 USO semis. We all know that Serena is a much better player now. BTW, this is clay, how could you not go with the better mover.

Under almost every other circumstance, I would vote for Lindsay blindly ;)

I can see Lindsay doing what she did in New Haven - close first set where she has huge opportunities, but letting it slide away followed by a sad second set.

Serena wins either 7-6 6-1 or 5-7 6-3 6-1

But go Lindsay - I'm still cheering for you :bounce:

2000 US quarters actually

why would you go with the better mover? clay is slow...gives lindsay more time to get to the ball, no? doesnt that increase her chances?

Sorry but Davenport HAS no chance. Sorry. But I'm afraid Williams will win 6-2, 6-3

See, I always thought this too. It's like reversed.

I figured that clay should be for worse movers and grass should be for great movers - but it doesn't work like that.

I think that the movement is a factor only because the clay softens the groundstrokes so they aren't that hard. That being said, movement is the only difference between players once the "how hard you hit it factor" is taken out. That combined with a sort of consistency and variety makes the player complete. Until recently, Venus and Serena struggled not with the movement but with the variety - but once they got that down (moreso Serena, but Venus has it too), they were much better on clay. Lindsay has the variety, but she lacks the movement. So it's like if you make a chart, Lindsay scores 1 point for variety, 1 point for groundstrokes, and 1 point for her serve. But Serena gets those 3 points and 1 for her movement.

I hope that's an OK explanation - and just remember that's my take on it, not the "this is the correct answer" kind of statement ;)

lol thanks, that makes sense ;)

BUT i saw her play yesterday and i thought with those groundies (they were huge!) she didnt need to be able to move all that well, cause there was no way anyone would have gotten to them...

oh well...we'll see...go linds ;)

lol - I agree. Her groundstrokes were great and it showed w/ the 40 winners she had compared to like 20 errors ;)

Go Lindsay :D

Serena has handled Linds groundies many times before, I doubt today will be any different. Serena loves the type of hard ball that Linds hits. Your not going to beat Serena at a power game. Although, I think Linds hits a deeper and flatter ball, Serena's movement is so good she will be able to get to most of them.

There's No WAY that LINDSAY can beat Serena.....She has only won two matches against Serena in their 10 meetings.

SERENA PROVED TO BE WAY AHEAD OF LINDSAY especially now that Lindsay is still recuperating from that injury and is slow on clay!
