View Full Version : Who will be the biggest riser this season?

Apr 10th, 2003, 03:02 AM
last season we had quite a few players such as safina, zvonareva, kuznetsova and casanova.

who will be the biggest riser this year. i think we have a few in the running. we have the russians (mainly douchevina, lina k, sharapova and kirilenko but also bastrikova and linetskaya), i think one of the most talent is strycova, stosur, we have golovin and marta domachowska. i've probably left off a few.

so who will be the biggest riser?

I can pick someone who was last year? Zvonareva.

From non-last year...Harkleroad. I think it was a great win over Bovina today

Alicia Molik, hopefully. But more likely Samantha Stosur. That girl is going places :)

Happy Guy

Elena Dementieva.

It seems her clay court performance is quite solid so far (Sarasota and Charleston) and so I predict she can re-enter Top 16, possibly on the verge of Top 10 (Not a very huge jump in the number but it is, considering the great competition in Top 16.)

Good luck Elena in the rest of the year!:)

Molik and Cho. Those two show the most promise to rise high. I think next season, Safina will join them!!!

GO GIRLS!!! :bounce:

It Depends on if you mean in the top 100 or not? In the top 100 Alicia Molik, over-all I'd say Karolina Sprem (who has already moved over 100 spots in the rankings)

i was talking about the young players moving from the junior ranks but i am happy for people to name older players like has already been done.

the topic is broad which makes it interesting because we will see whether posters disregard a players age in exchange for their talent.

Ashley Harkleroad!!

Angie Widjaja :p

Zvonereva, Molik and safina and I hope Kournikova.

biggest riser inside Top100= Molik
biggest riser from Top 200 will be Lina
from top 300 = Sprem

outside this lost, Eugenia Linetskaya (up 400 so far), Vera Douchevina (up 140), Carly Gullickson (nearly up500), Anastasia Yakimava (no rank to 499), plus there will be lots more.

:wavey: This is a tough thread because here we don't get to see them all.. This is all IMO

Molik.....already proven...will finish top 20 with her form.

Zvonareva....most impressive player I havn't seen ...don't even know what she looks like. On Results top 30 this year

Safina....will be top 30 within the next 2 years

Stosur.....is like a balloon waiting to burst....if she gets form (and she will....best potential for an Aussie apart from Alicia on the heavy red clay at the FO) Already beaten Conchita and came to a tie-break 3rd set with Stevenson.

Cho....who??? Sorry never seen her play

Harkleroad?.....great win over Bovina...never seen her play.

Jaslyn Hewitt??? Sorry had to mention it...appears to have no interest.

??? Krajicek??? youngest in top 10 of the Junior Rankings when I last saw...Richards sister?

Reguardless.....in 10 years Russian women will be dominating this game.
