Venus should be #2 for Roland Garros. BUT, Kim will probably pass her again at Roland Garros for #2.

Going into Wimbledon the rankings will probably be Serena, Kim, Venus.

Will Wimbledon give Venus the #1, or #2 seed with her history [Win, Win, Finals--last three years], or give her #3, and thus give a Williams/Williams SF a chance?

i think they seed her #1 or #2. they want the possiblity of an all williams final i think. but for another reason and one that i think is better is that venus has a much better record than kim at wimbledon than kim.

I think the seedings will go like:

#1 Serena (Regardless of what happens between now and then)
#2 Should be Venus (Two times champion; Reached the last 3 finals)
#3 Shoule be Kim (Never been to the semis)

i dunno, but i expect them to give venus the #2 seed...but how about the us open, do they have the right to assign seedings too, because venus has been just as consistent there as well...but after all she might be #2 by then anyway...

Actually I hope the rankings are #2 Kim and #3 Venus by then. I love the way Wimbledon assigns the seedings  Especially on the womens' side.

iLuVenuSerena, the US Open doesn't have the right to assign seedings, they have to go according to the WTA rankings.

Nope, actually all Slams can assign their own seeding. The US Open did it a few years back on the men's side and created quite a stir.

Really since when? They don't do it anymore?

I have never heard of the Australian Open doing it.

All Slams have the right to subjectively seed. The other three USUALLY don't because they realize how stupid it is and they don't want to upset the players.

I don't doubt that Venus will be seeded #2 if she goes into Wimbledon at #3. They take care of their former champs.

Wimbledon has really created a stir on the ATP. People like Guga, Corretja and other clay courters are upset with them because they work hard on the clay to get their rankings up, then on grass the move the rankings around. That's why a lot of clay courters miss Wimbledon

Along with this, another reason is that Wimbledon is so different from the rest of the slams that just because you're bad on slowcourts (which the ranks are made up of for the most part), it doesn't mean you're bad on clay.

Look at Pete Sampras - even though he lost early last year, he was the King of Wimbledon for a while. He most definitely deserved to be seeded high given his domination at the slam, even if he was legitametly ranked well outside the seeding range.

What would happen if Justine won Roland Garros or reached the final? Any chance she could move up to #3?

i believe the wimbledon committee will give venus the #2 seed because they've traditionally done so with former wimbledon champions and other players adept on the grass. i'd be surprised if they didn't (no offense to clijsters).

Wimbledon tends to play around a lot more with the mens seed rather than the women's, the only recent examples I can think where they actually changed the women's seeds was Graf in 99 and Lisa Raymond one year!! but on the whole wimbldon tends to stick with the women's ranking.

If Kim is no2 - she'll be seeded 2.
Wimbledon generally only changes the rankings if:

They are Brits,
They are 'clay court specialists.
They are men. ;)
