Monica only has to defend 604 points from 2003 Wimbledon until the 2004 season. In 2002, she played Stanford, US Open, Bahia, and the Tour Chmps. This year/summer, I think she may try to 'overplay' again this summer to make up for her slumping ranking and forced time off from injury. She'll want to try to 'replace' the two Tier Is she's missed this year. She could easily do a summer 2001 job on all of us and gain some big points. But even if she throws in only QF/SF, she'll amass probably at least twice or three/four times the points she's losing. Plus, add in the fact she's playing Rome (Tier I), Charleston (Tier I), and Amelia Island (Tier II), and she's only defending 46 points from Charleston '02 of those three events, and a return to the Top 10 is inevitable..... Mark my words, if she is able to play her 'committed' events and has healed well enough from her stress fracture, Monica will be back in the Top 7 and knocking on the door of the Top 5 this summer.
