imo cho and widjaja aren't playing well enough.

bartoli is in-form but unless she gets some good draws i can't see her in the top 30 this year because i don't think she can make the upsets to do it. i think it would require at least one top 20 scalp and i don't think she can unless she remains in her current form for the whole year.

molik is playing a really high standard and is making a lot of upsets and i think she can do it.

i'm not sure about pennetta.

IMO....I see Molik finishing about 19-24.....is not getting credit for her wins....her toss is more left now....players can't read it....perhaps the biggest kicker to the backhand in Womens Tennis????.....her head will come clear :wavey: ...still waiting for stats on Babsi loses to Molik (this time) :wavey:

Molik: 35
Cho: 45
Pennetta: 49
Widjaja: 65

Alicia has to win about 10 more matches for the year to meet her points...and she played Tier 4 or 5.....not even at the French Open....she will fly :worship: :worship:

people seems to look down on Widjaja

she had nothing to defend until Pattayashe reached 2nd rd of each Grand Slams and SF Shanghai.. she will just get more points.. and not to lose points :p

People underestimate Angie because winning measly Tier V's and having a few wins elsewhere will not get you into the top 30. I think she has the potential, but definately not this year.

No matter what you think of her, Widjaja is not going to lose points and fall in the rankings, like some of you are thinking

I dont think any of those will end in the top 30, but possibly top 40 or 50.

widjaja can really spring surprises against seeds but her main problem is that she tends to 'choke' and lose to players she shouldn't have or those who are ranked relatively lower.....

Out of this group, possibly Molik and Cho (assuming both remain injury free). At some point, I expect Bartoli to make top 30, but not much further than that.

I think people are hesitant to say Widjaja will make top 30 because, other than a couple of good wins, she rarely gets out of the first or second round. Sorry, but it takes a bit more than that to reach the top 30.

Ooh, I just saw that Molik is currently 71...it may be tough for her to reach top 30 this year, so if not this year, then definitely next. Out of this group, I think she has the most overall potential based on what little I've seen and heard about her.

I think pennetta can definitly make it in the top 30 by the end of the year, she's already 60 and has no points to defend, and she is doing very well.

Well two players I am not that sure about is Widjaja and Panetta.

Panetta, although she did well in Miami, still has a lot of improving to do......so I am not gonna say top 30 quite yet. And she is injured at the moment right?

And as for Widjaja, does anyone think she should already be there anyway? Her results seem so up and down to me.

Molik, Cho and Bartoli all seem to be working very hard and seem to be the most consistent of the bunch.

And Molik out of all of them, is the one player that is coming up with a lot of big wins.

Only player out of this group I can comment on is Molik because I don't closely follow any of the others.

Molik is in form this year. Think at the start of the year she was ranked in the high 90s. She was up to 71 this week, and adding in her Sarasota points she should move up to at least 60. Taking into account that she was injured for a couple of months and didn't gain any big points at the Aus Open I think this indicates how well she is playing. She has had wins of quite a few players in the top 30 this year.

I think if she can stay injury free she will be top 30 this year. She has shown that she is not scared to step up when she is player the higher ranked players and she is performing consistently on different surfaces.

As for comments others made about players winning measly Tier IV or below. All I can say is it doesn't matter how you earn the points, it's having them that counts in the rankings.

Great post Vicky and especially what you said at the end. If some posters were smart enough, they would realize it's these lower tier events that allow an Alicia Molik to sneak up the rankings and show her stuff.

And to boot, it's great match experience.

I don't think any of them will make the top 30 by the end of this years season, but I think Molik and Bartoli have the best chance.

What Widjaja need is more consistency.. I agree with bis.. She always lost to the lower-ranked player.. She choked.. She cn play veryy goodd.. but sometimes she can play like crap..

She can REach top 30 IF SHE is on form...
