FWIW, Monica has also never lost in the first round of a Slam.

True. But question was who in the top 10 has never lost a first round match? ;)

Serena was the only option in my head. She seems to come into all the grandslams at least playing decent. She really hasn't had that many scares w/ the exception of Loit at the beginning of the year. Chanda doesn't surprise me, for she is the most up and down player following Alex Stevenson. Lindsay has very good stats for playing on the tour for some time :)

Serena has lost in the 2nd round in one GS tournament. Her very first, OZ 98. She has also only lost once in the semis, WB 00. Go figure...

I'm not a statistican but I'm sure there are several second losses because Serena didn't turn her career around until last year. I hope she can beat Monica's streak because a stat like this a nice bragging right to own.

Thanks for posting this information because Serena's my fave and I just assumed (bad move) with all her incosistent play in the past, that she got ousted in the first of a Grand Slam several times in the past.
