at least so far...

Marion Bartoli def. LindsayDavenport 6-0
Jelena Dokic def. Alicia Molik 6-1 6-4
Chanda Rubin def. Amelie Mauresmo 6-0 6-2
Jennifer Capriati def. Sarah Taylor 6-1 6-0

so many bagels and one way scores..............

Mar 24th, 2003, 11:30 PM
Kim Clijsters def. Anna Pistolesi 6-1 6-1
Jutine Henin def. Marlene Weingartner 6-1 6-2
Serena Williams def. Iroda Tulyaganova 6-0 6-4

Could it be more boring 4th Rd?

No wonder Rios and Co. bash women's tour....... :o

I thought it was me being demanding, but as other people think so too I may have been right in the first place. That was an incredible set of scores. 7 matches. 4 Bagels and only 2 sets out of 13 played even getting to 6-4. Ouch.

I hate to say this, but it's embarrasing for women's tennis actually! they only have 8-10 strong players, and the rest, they might be strong 3-4 weeks in a year, and the rest of the year, they are lame!!

let's hope Meghan vs. Venus match is interesting... It doesn't mean that Meg has to win, but to make it going three sets would be enough for me.

Mar 25th, 2003, 12:17 AM
I think it's just weird. It may have been one of those days. Even Agassi won 62 60, or something like it.

Was Mauresmo healthy? Just wondering, cause I haven't seen her lose that badly...maybe ever? In any case, a long time.

Davenport was injured. I don't recall seeing her lost a set a love in a long time [Venus New Haven, but before that?]

That is a werid round! So many lopsided scores, and quite a few unexpected people in that round! What happened to Amelie???

Mar 25th, 2003, 12:25 AM
we can always hope that QF matches are more competitive..

what do we have there:

Serena vs. Bartoli (I'd be surprised if Marion takes 4 games total: not with playing with two hands off both sides against Serena)

Kim vs. Jelena ( Jelena has shown some signs of life at this tournament; could be interesting since she's quite capable of handling Kim's power)

Chanda vs. Justine ( probably most unpredictable match. should be interesting)

Jennifer vs. Venus (I think Venus will def. Meg. if she does than this QF will be most anticipated. Jenn played well against Taylor, so it should be an interesting match. But I think Venus will prevail at the end)

Mar 25th, 2003, 12:27 AM
interesting yes, but i only see one of them going to three sets.

Mar 25th, 2003, 12:29 AM
At last the serena and jen's matches were expected. Chanda vs momo should have been more sizzling! What happened to the Weingartner who ousted Jen in the AO, Pistolesi got married and looks like her game is still on a honeymoon, Molik seemed promising and Jelena recent performance made us expect a dog fight. If that means jelena is out of the woods, good for her!
Go Venus win the next match quickly, after this we all deseve a Jen/Venus match. It has been along time coming. :)

Mar 25th, 2003, 12:31 AM
interesting yes, but i only see one of them going to three sets.

which one?

Mar 25th, 2003, 12:33 AM
Rubin vs Henin is the one most likely to go 3

I think it's just weird. It may have been one of those days. Even Agassi won 62 60, or something like it.

Agassi had an easy match as well, yes, but many of the mens matches were actually closely contested battles, so his was an exception.

Oh well, hopefully the quarters are less of a snooze :)

it seems like Meg is saving 4th Rd total disaster! ;)

Mar 25th, 2003, 01:41 AM

Meg is up in the second set 4-0

Mar 25th, 2003, 01:46 AM
are we going to see another bagel in Rd4?

Venus being bageled??? It IS a weird round after all.....

Rd 4 is getting weirder by the minute!!

Mar 25th, 2003, 02:04 AM

Venus is out. Linds is out. 8 matches. 16 sets. 4 bagels. 6 bread sticks. No 3-setter. Only one tie-break.

someone has to ask Rios for comments...... :p

Mar 25th, 2003, 02:51 AM
it doesn't happen all the time now... :)

just one of those freaky days... ;)

Mar 25th, 2003, 03:07 AM
All the winners enjoyed breadsticks and bagels. :)

Mar 25th, 2003, 08:12 AM
15 sets were played.
4 x 6:0
6 x 6:1
2 x 6:2

 this is no good.

Jennifer probadly will reaching the Final again! :o
nope, there's still Justine

Mar 25th, 2003, 09:31 AM
yes justine is still there and i don't think rubin has much of a chance against justine unless she is playing poorly but she hasn't played badly so far in this tournament.
