this sure looks like a Tier IV clay event...... :D
hopefully Angela is gonna get a WC into MD,
coz it will be hard for me to see
a former Champ playing in qualies.....:(

and good luck to Marion too..
is it that hard to get a title......

I hope will go to qualifying this year and maybe to the semis or the finals. :D I only can go in the weekends because I have to go school in the other days.

About the maindraw wildcards, one of them will go to Maria Kirilenko; the other will go almost surely to Frederica Piedade because she is the number one Portuguese player and the one with better results. Altough I don't know if she will want to play because she knows she is still not at that level. The only Portuguese player that can cause an upset in the maindraw is Ana Nogueira. She only plays well against the better players, but her ranking is so low now that I doubt she'll be awarded one WC in to the maindraw. The third WC is to a top player. But of course there aren't any top players who want to play at Estoril so that WC will not be given to anyone as it always happens :fiery: .

Good Luck to:

Rita Grande :)
Tathiana Garbin :)
Klara Koukalova :)
Aniko Kapros :)

Does the Ostrava $25K winner get a feed into the qualies for this tournament?
If so, seeing as the winner in Ostrava, Zuzana Ondraskova is in on merit; does the runner-up, Anne Keothavong get the wild card?

TheBoiledEgg

yes Ostrava winner did get a feed-up
but She doesn't need it
Anne K if she wants to play here will be the feed-up as runner-up.

Yes :) . I think Kafelnikov requested the organisers to give her one or he wouldn't play this year. And of course he is one of the biggest atractions on the mens side, so they didn't want to lose the oportunity of having him in the tournament. The same thing happened last year with Marat Safin asking for a WC for Dinara.

Because he has an organization of support to the young Russian promises and Maria Kirilenko is one of them.

Tacky entry list, I think the tournament should demand more from the WTA. Would it hurt if one Top 25 player showed up? Just one.

And no Anca?

Foretz, Garbin, Zuluaga and Bartoli withdraw from the maindraw. Sanchez-Lorenzo, Cervanova, Mandula and Antonella-Serra Zanetti take their places. I think Asa Svensson withdrew too, because she was the second on the qualifying list but didn't get in to the main draw.

The WC's for the qualifying went to Portuguese players Ana Nogueira, Neuza Silva, Magali de Lattre and to the Romenian Adriana Mingireanu.

Good Luck all of them :)

I think she made the correct choice. She's in the States anyway so why go here?

I think Ansley may have withdrawn. At least I hope she does.
