No wonder Tatiana looks moody. 0-6 3-5 ain't cool. I just hope this latest rain delay will help her recover.

Panova has hardly won a game in last few matches... 6-0,6-4 last week to Schiavone, 6-0,6-3 to Cohen Aloro in Tokyo and now probably 6-0,6-3 here.. looks like a slump!

Yup, doesn't look good. Three first-set bagels in a row, all to players ranked below her...

Correction: Schiavone won 6-4, 6-0 - not the greatest consolation, though.

I wouldn't expect any play today. It's been raining on and off all day here in San Diego and I suspect what we've had today is moving in their direction. It's been clear here for about the last hour, but there are still clouds and looks as if it could rain more.

Geez people

Starting Wed. morning...the chance of rain is like 30%...that pretty much means...no rain well... in most of the East Valley...maybe the tournament should be moved to Tempe or Mesa, even though we are only 30-40 minutes away...the weather is generally a few degrees warmer as are the people :)

Plus any match scheduled on Stadium court for the day session have been cancelled.

Except Black vs. Panova.

This day is sucking. :(:(:(

Lubidani
Feb 26th, 2003, 12:46 AM
yeah they are going to see if they can get the black panova finished. If they can get some "dry-time" they will go ahead with the scheduled night match of Bedanova-Shaughnessy.

Clubhouse court will keep going with the day schedule(finishing up the schett match). All of this is VERY optimistic.

HOWEVER, it hasnt rained here at my house(10 mins from tourney) for about half an hour so hopefully there will be some play ;)

BTW, I will be there tomorrow all day so it BETTER NOT rain ;)

When weather or other unavoidable circumstances cause
a disruption in the schedule, a player may not be expected to play more than three (3) matches in a day without her consent. (This does not apply to Qualifying doubles). THREE MATCHES IN A DAY  .

Steveg
Feb 26th, 2003, 02:19 AM
If, due to rain or extraordinary circumstances, a Tournament cannot be completed on the final day as scheduled, the Tournament shall be required to extend for one day to complete the Singles and/or Doubles events unless the Tournament, players and Tour all agree to abandon the Tournament on the day the Final was originally scheduled to be played (the event must be extended even if only one entity wants to play the final). No further extension will be permitted without the approval of the WTA Tour.

An additional fine of $5,000 shall be assessed to any player who fails to play a postponed final match in singles or doubles on the day following the originally scheduled final day of the Tournament concerned.

Where a Tournament cannot be completed outdoors, and where a suitable indoor facility exists, the Tournament should be played to completion. If Tournament play is interrupted or postponed, players will be required to play on the day following the originally scheduled final day of the Tournament. Any final scheduling decisions will be made by the Supervisor who has the authority (in consultation with the Tournament Director) to move a match to another court, indoors or outdoors, regardless of surface. Can they start looking for indoor courts nearby :( ?
