They both hurt... Lena has easily defeated Schiavone in their 3 previous matches. Ugh... all she has to do is win these easy matches, and she's in the Top 10 later this year... ugh.

Hey, Schiavone has beaten Seles and Clijsters before, so this isn't a terrible loss. Francesca can play some good tennis, and when they played at the US Open it was a tough match.

I totally agree with you Asmus, I do not know what is wrong with all this people, they think Francesca is such a weak player...where did they get that from ? she has beaten top 10 players, when she is on she can beat almost everybody and she ranked at 38, not 338 ! well done Francesca !!!

I never expected Tatiana and Vera to do well in dubs! They are less then good in doubles! Tatiana can volley but I think it's pretty easy to lob her :rolleyes:

kewl, razzano is into the main draw. she hs been playing well lately. i think she is at her highest ranking 60 or 61. i would have liked it if she hadn't beat afinogenova in the second round of qualies but i don't mind her getting through. hopefully she can continue to rise up the ranks. i'd like to see her in the top 50.

Monday daytime updates...

Irvin beat Lee-Waters in a really well played match. Lindsay came out really going for the lines and Marissa was content to float balls back to her. Lindsay started overhitting a bit, and Marissa got more aggressive and really turned it around. Really the match was in LIndsay's hands, as when she was aggressive she usually won the point. When she was content to slice her backhand and hit it to the center of the court, Irvin was able to get herself in a position to win the point.

Vera's match sucked. She was down on herself in the second game and it never changed until she held (or broke?) to go up 1-0 in the second. Vera lost because Eleni was hitting very low backhand slices that landed around the service line. Vera would net most of those. Eleni did hit a bunch of beautiful angles thogh when Vera did come to net. Vera really played a nice point each game, where she would wear down Daniilidou's forehand before hitting a nice winner the other way. Also, Vera's footwork sucked. Vera also cried after the match, I may have gotten a pictue. Her attitude just sucks though :(

Schiavone played the match of her life, she was really very very aggressive. I only saw a few games and she was always moving forward and attacking when Bovina had to reach for a shot, and hit a weak one.

Vera's doubles match was exciting, lots of good points but they all ended with Renee hitting a nice angle, or Tatiana feeding it to Meghann/Renee at the net so they could knock off the easy volley. It was pretty competitive despite the score, and if Vera played doubles more she may be a decent player. She lobbs well.

Everyone was practicing today, Lindsay was there in the morning and again in the PM. Serena made an appearance but had to go straight to the trainer. Lord knows why.

I didn't see any of the other qualifying matches though. Foretz was very pissed after her loss. Both of them were content to just hit the ball back to the middle of the court until S-Z was able to hit an angle or something to get Foretz out of place. Neither was aggressive at all.

Tonight is Chanda vs. Craybas and Lucic vs. Dechy.
