I wonder why in one case a match is postponed and in two other cases, the matches are canceled  .

Maybe there was no way Akiko and Saori could have made it today :( .

Marissa will play Lastra as scheduled... Lastra was supposed to play Obata in the 1st round and it was Obata who missed. So Lastra got a bye into the second round

Lindsay Lee-Waters def. 6- Sarah Taylor 6-4 6-1

The score is right, the play who won may not be. Instead of defeat, they have VS. there, so... draw your own conclusions.

If Lindsay won:

Lindsay Lee did win today. She was up 3-0, and Taylor fought back togoup 4-3. At 4-4 Taylor called the trainer (she did the same thing yesterday) and from thre on it was all Lindsay. Lindsay really found her rhythm up 2-1 in the second set and really ran away with it. She hit some really nice angles today.

I only saw a few games of Marissa's match because Lastra wasn't puting up much of a fight, and we wanted to get bak into the Jidkova match.

Alina had trouble with Julia mostly because Julia came out hitting really hard and hitting a lot of winners. She has a really nice backhand, but doesn't know how to do much besides hit the ball hard. She played doubles later in the qualies and really looked out of place (playin w/Pin). Alinka won her match with kapros easily, as the score indicates.

I didn't really watcdh much of any other matches. Oh, the doubles between lina suuvarik/alesia mikalayeva vs. kapros/craybas was the last matc on the stadium and I love Alesia MIKALAYEVA. She's realy cute, and was just havinga god time out there. They put together a few good games at the end and lost 8-3.

Practicing today we saw Kim and Chanda practicing together, Stubbs & Bovina together, Vera & Cho together, Kim also pratcided with Leyton earlier in the day, Serra Zanetti was on one court or another all day between her match and practicing. Vera seemed to be hitting much better than yesterday. yesterday she was mostly working on her serve and letting Julia Vakulenko pound returns at her. Today she played a few games witH Cho and seemed to be actually more consistent than her. Also practicing was Shaughnessy, Davenport.

I didn't see much else today, spent a lot of time sitting in the stadium. lubidani saw a little bit of other matches though so he might have more reports :)

How unfortunate for Akiko & Saori.

Just goes to show that winning isn't everything. Alinka lost the match, yet she still got lucky in the end. :(

Akiko & Saori apparently missed a flight Sunday morning due to the large numbers of people who left Memphis the same time after Tyson's fight the previous night.
