Is this really Tier II ? why is the draw so weak?

I know lots of top players are too tired to come here after Dubai. Who's fault is this? Organizers? WTA? or?? any comments?

I suspect is has something to do with Indian Wells and Miami. I don't think players want to play literally five straight weeks.

Just my thoughts.;)

Nobody faults. People would love visits Dubai than Scottsdale because it's different continent and different cultures.

is there a prize money difference?

Scottsdale draw is not weak at all. It's about the same as Dubai.:)

A) Each tournament has 4 Top-10 players:
Dubai (rankings at time of the draw): Henin(4), Mauresmo(6), Capriati(7), Seles(9).
Scottsdale: S.Williams(1), Clijsters(3), Davenport(8), Dokic(9).

B) Scottsdale's top 2 seeds (S.Williams, Clijsters) are ranked higher than ANY seed at Dubai.

C) Seeds #5-#8, at both tournaments, are ranked in the Top-20. Neither tournament has seeds ranked outside the Top-20.

Agree - Dubai draw was not much stronger. If the seeds hold until the quarterfinals it will be a quality Tier II event.

Its not very weak. It has Serena, Kim, Lindsay and Jelena, 4 top ten players, which is about average for a Tier II. The rest of the players arent bad either (Razzano and Foretz have to play quallies).

Usually this tournament has a much better draw. Hingis has always played previously as has Monica...J Cap played last year...Lindsay has always played, well not last year and Justine is not here this year...so it's a little disappointing but I'll still be there.

World #1 and #3 in the same tier II? That's weak?
