Hey there,

I'm going to the tourney this year, it will be my first time out there.

Was wondering if anyone else is going and also what would be the best days, and is it best to get a hotel room, or just make the drive from LA and back?

Wow, was that a run on sentence??...LOL

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Hey!

I'm going on the weekend, March 9. I'd say that is the best time to go (March 8-9), because this is the third round matches for the women. This means that you'll get to see some high quality matches on side courts, and still have the opportunity to see a lot of matches...compared to quarterfinal and semifinal days. You'll also get to see the men practicing, because they usually arrive on Saturday and Sunday.

As far as hotel vs. commute, I would say go to priceline.com. You can get VERY GOOD hotel room rates from that site, and for quality hotels at that. You can commute, if you prefer, but if you're a die-hard fan and stay until the sessions are over...it might be tiring to stay on the grounds all day, drive home, then drive back again in the morning. At least for me, since my drive is about 2 hours.

Of course, that's just my opinion ;)

thanks Jeff. That was the weekend I was thinking about going. I was also thinking about trying price line, we'll see what happens.

Maybe I'll see ya there.

it's too far to commute from LA

the best deal is to rent a condo... but if you don't go for a week, then priceline.com is the best option. and I agree with Jeff that the best time is the first 3-4 days of the tournament

I'll be there as part of "Team Tammy"!

Yes, it is much too far to drive (esp. if you will be attending more than one day in a row).

If the hotels around Indian Wells are too pricey, I'd suggest staying near Cabazon (still about 45 mins away), near the big shopping outlet. I'm sure the casino (Morongo) doesn't charge as much for their rooms.

On the other hand, some of the up and coming players stay at some of the hotels and motels near Indian Wells, so it would be a chance for you to "gawk" at them off the court!

Have fun!

Thanks for the info all. My friends and I are staying at the Courtyard in Palm Springs on Sat. night.

We're going to see the day sessions on Sat and Sun. We are all looking forward to it, and maybe we will go out on Sat and do some drink/celebrating.

I have been to Indian Wells for the past 4 or 5 years. It is great! The only thing is that it is kinda far, further than most expect. Actually it is only about 10 mins west of Indio. I enjoy going at least one day during the first week to see all the players practicing and tickets are cheap!

HAVE FUN!
