yes it's early to start, but , first we have to hope they get good draws .....!
Jan 11th, 2002, 06:50 AM
Oh, what a draw for Justine! Anna Kournikova in the FIRST ROUND?
Yes, Justine IS a better player than Anna, but Anna so often can manage one good match per tournament -- and that's all she'd need to knock Justine OUT! And Justine's confidence may be shot after losing to Kim in straight sets. :o
Will those who know the most about Justine Please, say something Reassuring here??? I am desperate for reassurance!
Jan 11th, 2002, 07:38 AM
wow, henin/kournikova in first round. Very tough for each of them. Didn't Justine beat Anna in US open of 2000(?) for her first big win? should be a fun match to watch!
Jan 11th, 2002, 07:44 AM
The WHOLE CROWD will be against our Justine! You know how the Aussies always are about ANNA. I don't know if I can stand to watch it!
Jan 11th, 2002, 06:42 PM
KIM'S Situation is better, and I can picture her in her 2nd GS final in a year! :D
Jan 13th, 2002, 08:19 PM
I hadn't thought about the crowd before. You're right, the crowd is usually behind Anna.
But GOOOO JUSTINE! I believe in you, I'm convinced you can pull off an easy win.
And GOOO KIM!!
Jan 13th, 2002, 09:18 PM
Thanks, Tine! That's all I needed to hear!:) :) :)
ALLEZ JUSTINE AND KIM!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Jan 14th, 2002, 06:47 AM
It is true a lot of Aussie blokes like Anna, but you have to remember that tennis crowds in Australia tend to also have a high proportion of people who are quite educated about the game and will know the rising stars, so I think a lot of people will be cheering for Justine too.
In any event, go Kim and go Justine! It's just a pity you have to meet each other before the final.
Jan 14th, 2002, 01:11 PM
GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!!!!!!!!! :bounce:
Jan 14th, 2002, 04:36 PM
In their match at the USOpen the crowd was behind Justine so who knows, they might actually prefer her over Anna. ;)
Allez Justine! :bounce: :bounce:
Go Kim! :bounce: :bounce:
Jan 14th, 2002, 07:12 PM
I think it also helps that they are first up! At 11am, the crowd will be less rowdy altogether than later on. The closer this match gets, the more confident I feel about Justine winning it.
Nice for Kim to snag the marquee night match position!
Thank you Justine. As usual, it was a pleasure watching you.
I am still under the spell of those wonderful backhand lobs. A marvel to watch ! :D
And thank you ARD, for showing the match live !
Jan 15th, 2002, 08:24 PM
Well done girls (and boys)! :D
Too bad for Olivier though...
Jan 15th, 2002, 09:27 PM
Congrats to all. Good match, Olivier but too bad...
Btw who likes Kim's outfit? I don't like that shirt at all :(
Jan 15th, 2002, 10:34 PM
what was she wearing?????
Jan 15th, 2002, 11:59 PM
Something red with a bit white in it. Dunno if she was wearing this in Sydney too, but I don't like it :(
Jan 16th, 2002, 12:07 PM
Kim and Ai go through in doubles
Callens- Pratt too..but I don't see them get far in the tourni..
Jan 16th, 2002, 09:42 PM
Kim's been wearing quite a few different shirts this year.
I don't really like the one she was wearing yesterday either. I just don't like the Nike outfits anymore since last year already. They always come up with the worst.
Though Kim looked very good in the red shirt she was wearing in her first match at the hopman cup.
Jan 16th, 2002, 10:34 PM
Does any1 know why Justine & Meghann withdrew from doubles?
Jan 16th, 2002, 10:55 PM
It was because of Meghann, people are saying - she hurt her back in the Alexandra match -- don't know how bad it was, but I hope she can continue in singles.
Nice to see our JUSTINE merits Rod Laver Arena tonight! The tournament organizers have SEEN THE LIGHT!! :D :D :D
Good luck over Marta Marrero, Justine!
Jan 17th, 2002, 09:19 AM
Congrats to both girls for reaching the third round :D
Jan 17th, 2002, 10:32 AM
Congrats Justine (let's remember the third set and forget about the rest I would say) and Kim! :bounce:
Too bad about Christophe! He had at least one set-point in the second set in the tiebreak and missed a lot of chances to break. They only show the third set on ARD. Both players were not playing well, making a lot of errors. Christophe didn't seem to have any inspiration.
Jan 17th, 2002, 10:36 AM
It was lost after the second set, Sofie. Christophe had at least 1 setpoint at 6-5 and had 4 in the tiebreak (leading 6-2) :(
Jan 17th, 2002, 11:18 AM
He was leading 6-2 in the tie-break??? I didn't know. :(
Jan 17th, 2002, 12:38 PM
:bounce: I am beside myself with glee :bounce:
Well done Kim and Justine!
Jan 17th, 2002, 01:02 PM
Well done girls!!!!!!!!!:bounce:
Jan 17th, 2002, 04:41 PM
Kim only lost 5 games so far :eek, very impressive.
It seems like Justine is still struggling with her serve and her consistency. I hope she finds it back for her next matches.
Allez Justine! :bounce::bounce:
Go Kim! :bounce::bounce:
Jan 17th, 2002, 07:40 PM
Well, Kim was quite impressive! I hope she will not play as well in the QF against Juju ;)
Jan 17th, 2002, 07:51 PM
Not to worry about Justine. Thjat third set against Marta was fantastic! :D
Jan 18th, 2002, 01:00 PM
Kim/Ai and Els/Nicole are in the third round of doubles :D
Jan 20th, 2002, 07:57 PM
VERY important match tonight for Justine, facing a fired-up, big-hitting Elena D. who is undoubtedly eager to show that she belongs in tennis' elite. I can't wait to see how Justine and Elena handle each others' games.
ALLEZ JUSTINE! Show Elena why YOU are the one in the top 10! :D
Jan 21st, 2002, 04:01 AM
This will be a tough match, it seems like Dementieva is playing great tennis.
Jan 21st, 2002, 07:17 AM
